Other than the idiot Ricketts, does anybody care if he admits he did steroids? Not at all. Sosa fucking saved the game of baseball. That 1998 season was one of greatest I ever witnessed as a fan. Sammy should have been allowed to "sprint" out to RF and tap his chest the day he retired. Fu... |

I was worried the Cubs would have to go five years plus which is past his prime. I would have been okay with a one year deal too. Hopefully their top minor system will produce cost controlled replacements. This is a bridge guy. I would have been cool with the deal without the player options. There ... |

The length of the deal doesn't matter when the only reason he won't opt out is because he's injured or bad. That's security for him, not the Cubs. |

It is a huge win. The years is key. If Bell opts out, then you just play this same game again. What's the upside for the Cubs beyond what I listed above. Hoyer got bent over. The Cubs are playing for time for their prospects to be ready. This is a win win. There is no downside. If he sucks or gets ... |

Bellinger back, 3/80. Boras caved The Cubs caved. Bored wins. Edit: At best, Bellinger plays great and the Cubs win the WS or trade him at the deadline for great prospects. Outside of that, Bellinger has all of the upside. If he sucks, he has $100M in financial security. If he plays great, he opts ... |

Soto and Yankee Stadium are a fit. I don't think Boras would have it any other way. When it comes down to it, Cubs would only have him the one year. So it is what it is when the most powerful agent in history is pulling the strings. Yeah it seems dumb to me to give up things for a guy like that whe... |

Agreed. He's guilty of working behind Maddon's back to steal his job. It's the nature of the business. |

As a manager, when someone offers you a deal nearly as big as the Sox offer their best players, you have to take it. Counsell can't be concerned about the way the Cubs treated his predecessors. Fuck them! |

I know why he never signed a new deal. The Cubs already had a backroom deal in place. |

I imagine someone tries him next spring. He can fill the 'wife abuser' void on the South Side if Jacki leaves this offseason. Easy now. TA may be a scumbag with a glass jaw, but he’s - to the best of my knowledge - not a wife abuser. "Why are you diminishing emotional abuse?" -Biological ... |

Babe is the best player they drafted and they allowed him to walk instead of paying him $8M. Every other player ended up sucking almost overnight. |

Knew we were fucked when Epstein left us with this dope, fired in 18 months. Epstein left after he put together a bloated roster of shit. I'm thankful for 2016, but that was nothing more than a prayer answered by the baseball Gods. The best position players on the roster ended up being Hendry guys.... |
