Just saw his broadcast time and 7th inning stretch.

Getting this guy back in 84 was huge. He was such a great player with the Phillies but they thought he was done so luckily Dallas Green picked him up for us.

Loved the way he played. Loved how he flipped his hat ala Willie Mays every time he got a hit.

Thanks for the memories Sarge. It was great seeing you today (on tv). He looked in great shape and like he could pinch hit even today.

Good call. A trade that always gets overshadowed by the Sutcliffe trade but he and Dernier were the catalyst to that whole season.

It did cost us an elderly Soup Campbell. But, I think, still worth it.

i wonder if they gave Sarge a WS ring. And Bobby D and Sutcliffe as well. Does Leon Durham qualify?

Not sure but Rozner deserves one apparently.

What I remember about Gary is how he could swing at some of the worst pitches ever, miss by 3 feet and then get a single on the next pitch. He was lousy in the OF but led the NL in OBP in 2004. He played great for the Cubs.

Maybe his son. Was he still playing in 2004? Was that a juiced year?
