That's kind of always been my point. I don't think Epstein or anyone else has a magic pill or a monopoly on "the right way". I'm sure this team will be good again, and then bad again. Maybe one day they'll win a World Series. Expecting to be the Yankees (or even the Cardinals) is unrealistic. Nobody else does that either. They should just worry about being a better Cubs.

Probably closer to the deadline. If they can get him to pitch 4 or 5 good games, they will probably want to trade him, too.

When I signed up in 1967,the Cubs had 4 future HOF'rs!

Enjoy your Rich Morales-Stan Bahnsen White Sox.

Correct.

Couldn't find a picture of her with the pissy look on her face. Not one that suited me anyway.

At least I took the time to cue it up to the proper phrase.

Jerkface.

I said this 3 years ago & I will say it again: If you can't plug a hole with a youngster, then go get a capable mid-level FA. IF the Cubs just sprinkled the lineup with a few hitters, the last 3 seasons might have lasted longer than early May. The Cubs could have filled the stadium with a more competitive team. Sale HOPE at least. With the extra WC added right when Theo took over,I said it was the wrong time in baseball history to think a complete teardown was needed. You just need to get invited to the dance. Sometimes 85 wins can be good enough.

I understand The Plan, the losses, everything but what is most disconcerting is an ownership buried alive in debt and therefore paralyzed. Are they putting all their eggs in the TV deal basket?? Very well could be and if they don't get the big deal, you may very well see Theo and his bunch head for the exits because clearly Ricketts ain't got the cash to finance a 150M payroll without the TV deal. So what is Theo doing? Tanking at MLB level to hopefully get the picks to jump start the franchise (like Braun and Fielder did for MILW) and via trades to hopefully get lucky with a CJ Edwards or a Corey Black.

So in the interim, we get The Shit Show.

Grin and bear it Cubs fans.

And guess what? This draft supposedly is lacking an arm by the 4th pick so watch the White Sox at 3 land the big arm that pans out and The Cubs draft some guy that sucks.

Holy Cow!

No.

Hell No!!

Glad I didn't see today's game.

I'm still a fan but not of Ricketts. Here is buried balls deep in debt and it would not surprise me to see Theo or some of his team (especially Jason McLeod) begin to bail on this ownership.

No way do I see these guys sticking around if they aren't given at least a 150M payroll by 2016 to supplement the players that do make it out of their system.

I think this is exactly right. They're not rich enough to own a major market baseball team and max it out--the purchase was so heavily leveraged that you have to wonder why it was even allowed in the first place. They must have been the "right kind of people."

I have not hit a game in years, I have probably turned down free tix 2 dozen times. I haven't bought a hat, shirt or anything really...There are many more who won't spend $ on this unacceptable product . The cubs are losing $ . If you are going to suck and lose 500 games over 5 years...then have a 30 million dollar payroll and play a shit load of. Double n triple A kids...not this pile of garbage .

I never wanted Ricketts stupid ass to buy this club, he has fucked up pretty much everything since taking control .
Even this awful team will draw 2 million plus...that's the problem ..if it were a ghost town , this "plan" would accelerate tremendously .

Attendance under 35k for a beautiful day against the Yankees, with Samardzija pitching and the game being Derek Jeter's last against the Cubs. I was able to get 2nd row tickets behind the dugout from a broker for $90 each (for a client who came in from NY). I think face value was around $130. Ticket brokers and season ticket holders hoping to resell must be getting crushed.

I guess that is all there needs to be said really to describe the situation. The Cubs and Wrigley are now just any other team.

What would be hilarious is getting a video of fans going up to Ricketts bragging they got seats right behind home plate for 70% or whatever of face value and getting his reaction.

I thought Hendry was drowning in his own bad contracts but they did have their moments under his guidance. I think 312 is right on!

The Shit Show continues:

Still the worst record in baseball, WGN America drops them in favor of reruns and Crane Kenney and his "PR" team butcher the renovation "Plan" again.

At least Kris Bryant is raking.

Hey Hey!
