You seem to view that purchase with the expected level of shame so you'll be fine.

Thanks Richard.

In all seriousness, there are a couple makes and models that are kind of intriguing.

A couple.

Not all.

I saw some hatches at the Auto Show last weekend. Thought about you IMU. My girl wanted to do the test-drive thingy in one but I declined. I picked another car instead.

Hey man, if I'm a queer for an interest in increased MPG's, then call me what you will.

I'm interested in learning more about the Honda CR-Z and the Hyundai Veloster.

2011 Nissan Versa 4 door hatchback owner.

We already have the mini van so I wanted something smaller. Interior room has to be the biggest in it's class. Have taken it to Chicago and st.Louis on family roadies and couldn't be happier. Kids have enough room. Good headroom for taller people. Also can fit golf clubs easily.

2 negatives: interior fabric easily the shittiest on the market. Seems to Wear quickly and is a hair and lint magnet. Key fob range Sucks. Basically have to be 5 feet away for it to work.

Good choice if you already have the family truckster and would like to downsize for the 2nd choice.

My wife owns a small Toyota hatch. She just wanted a small, fun car. I admit that it is all that. It reminds me of a go-cart. So not event taking into account the hot hatchbacks - an economy hatchback is still huge fun. I mean I love no car more than my friends Volkswagen Rabbit that we put huge miles on during high school.

We recently went to a Mazda dealer to just drive cars and the Mazdaspeed 3 is just insane value and fun for the price. Currently trying to work that into our finances for the wife. It's got to happen. I need to drive that car - but I do not want it to be my car.

The front is kind of ugly but I'm sure I could spend a few hundred to get a kit for the front if I really end up hating it. And the red bits of the interior are ugly.

Just bought a Volkswagen Passat. I had no idea that a turbo charged 2.0L engine could be so fucking fast. This car is fun as hell to drive. Has both auto stick & paddle shifters. The German driving experience is great. 33MPG on the highway is a bonus.

VW is definitely a thought. The new Golf (rabbit) looks nice. She owned a Camry in the past so she wouldn't like a Passat no matter how much nicer it would drive. And I know it would be a lot better. Ive always loved VW.

Out the door for the Golf would probably be close to $19k and that gets back to my point about the MS-3 being such a value at $25k. 263hp! Aside from the red that interior is actually pretty nice.

Yeah, slower doesn't mean anything to the wife. The MS3 appealed to me. It's a blast to drive despite the torque steer, which is plenty noticeable. We went to a VW dealer Monday and she is hooked on VW goodness, now. Yet to go the the Ford dealer but the reviews are positive in their favor. Even a loaded Fiesta would be great for her.

I drove her Camry and the Passat is such a noticeable difference. It just feels like a European car. I noticed it the first trip to Europe in a C-class taxi. Great seats and tight all around. It's her choice and at this point the Passat is leading the pack. Although hey didnt have a GTI to test.

It's ok, but what do the tail lights look like?

I recently traded in the hatchback for something new (not a hatchback). I'll definitely miss taking corners at ridiculous speeds, but I'm too old for it. At least I feel to old for it.
