Otis Wilson used to work out with a few old Bears and my youngest son in Hyde Park. I once joked with my friend(Dent's then wife) when she blindly walked into traffic and talked about how, if she'd been hit, it would've been all over the news. I let her know that her name wouldn't ever be cited, that she'd only be former Bear, Richard Dent's wife. She thought about it and laughingly agreed.

Olin coaches grade school football in Lake Forest. Alex brown's son was 5'9 and played hoops against Young Crest last year. Wanny's son in law is a football coach at a parish in Wilmette someone told me last week.

Parkins absolutely mocks Wanny. But Wanny gives it back to Danny. He calls him "Boy Wonder" and "Danny boy". Which is kind of insulting because Danny is like 33 or 34. They both take shots at each other on their sports thoughts. Sometimes it gets awkward. But it's only sports talk, so who cares.

To be honest, some of there arguments are stupid. Like 10 year old kid arguments. Plus, Wanny isn't very bright. He doesn't really know about anything other then football.

For example, if you were to ask him who the new President is going to be on January 20th, I guarantee you he doesn't know it's Joe Biden. If you asked him how many Senators do we have in the United States, he wouldn't know. That's my impression of Wanny. He's one of those guys that learned football, was in football his entire life, and only cares about football.

That being said, I'm kind of jealous of him for being just a football simpleton. Because he's made millions and never had to worry about anything but fucking football. Good for him.

IIRC, back when Spiegel and Parkins had a regular show and Wannstedt was a weekly guest, Parkins pissed Wannstedt off by acting like a know-it-all and ridiculing one or more things he had said. I think Parkins also pissed off Jim Miller for similar reasons.

He was on with Parkins yesterday. Just a great storyteller. Hopefully they will have him on regularly for the NFL season.

Dave talked about drafting Todd Sauerbrun, who had just broken Reggie Roby's punting records. Wanny and Kevin Butler loved to golf, and Butler told Dave that every kicker and punter he ever knew was a good, sometimes great golfer. When Wannstedt later met Sauerbrun for the first time, he asked him what his handicap was...Sauerbrun looked at him and said, "I hate golf." Dave said that was the first warning sign.
