No, it's funny that you didn't get that he was making fun of you clowns. A lot of you actually thought Schwarber was Ruth, Russell was Larkin, and many of you still think Bryant is a Hall of Fame lock.

I remember the end of last season MLB tonight was discussing all the young shortstops and Harold Reynolds compared Russell to Larkin as well.

I don't think anybody predicted an MVP for Addy , I'd be surprised if he doesn't finish in the top 10 for MVP once or twice in his career.

What is it that makes you think that? His anemic OBP or his limp-wristed throws to first or just the fact that he wears a Cub uniform?

I'm sure Russell will become a better hitter with his next wife.

The great defense and good power for a SS means if he has a career year, he might have a shot. Rational.

He's not one of the ten best shortstops let alone one of the ten best players, so I'll say it's not likely. But yeah, it could happen. Zoilo Versalles actually won one.

Hey man. We're Cubs fans. Haven't had much to be excited about in our lifetimes of fandom. A few off the wall proclamations isn't the end of the world.

I heard Theo compare Schwarber to Ruth and Rizzo and Kasper calling Russell a future MVP.

Not sure who "a lot of you" or "Cub fans" are. This has a Bernstein "everyone on Twitter" vibe.

I threw it out as a long shot prediction before this season. He was 6th in WAR among SS last year and 37th over all.

I wouldn't say a lock but his trajectory seems to be on track. Anything can happen but it isn't silly to think he isn't one of the best players in baseball right now.

From a defensive side, he was supposed to be the guy that makes the easy plays consistently and makes the tough plays look easy, which is why I believe Baez doesn't play short anymore. Now he has these weird moments in the field that makes you wonder about his mental state out there. On offense, he's got power and a fast bat through the zone. He had a lot of RBI's last year, but otherwise he sees a lot of pitches and strikes out too often. Misses a lot out of the zone, as you'd expect from a young hitter.

Wasn't it huge Cub fan Billy Beane who told Theo "'I just traded Barry Larkin" after the Samardzija deal?

People forget how young these guys are. Was Barry Larkin really Barry Larkin at 22 or 23 like Russell is right now? I'd wager that Larkin wasn't even in MLB at 22.

I'm not saying he will become Larkin but we really have no idea how good or bad Russell will be.

He'll be lucky to have the career of Bobby Crosby

Jesse, the Cub expert for ESPN, said earlier this year that he "probably will make the Hall of Fame." That is not a paraphrase

You didn't get what gd was doing? This is like when someone reacts to an Onion article because they think it's real news.

I get exactly what he was doing. Cub fans have done the same thing and guys like JORR and Pittmike hold them accountable for it.

So time for it to go both ways.

No you don't and no they didn't and go ahead and lead the way in going both ways

Bobby Crosby was touted more than Russell. It's much more likely that Russell will end up like Crosby than Larkin. Just like it's more likely that Tim Anderson ends up as Lee Richard rather than Jimmy Rollins.

Addison Russell -

Similar Batters through 22
1. Frankie Crosetti (951.9)
2. Zoilo Versalles (939.3)

Im not being sarcastic.

Although I'll guess Russell's glove helps him stick around longer than Crosby. Maybe a JJ Hardy type

So when Sox fans do it, it is a parody. When Cubs fans do it, it is truth. Got it. And heaven help us if a media member makes any comment about the Cubs because then it becomes something that ALL Cubs fans believe 100%

Jorr... Crosby had a career high of 64 rbi, Russell is in his third season and surpassed that easily thus far... Horrible Comp.
