Who the hell knows. it would be really great if GD could provide some context when he does these nominations.

The ring is a "peace offering that doesn’t erase 14 years of hell for this guy who had one moment where his brain didn’t work, he did the wrong thing," Cohn said. "Moises Alou would say later he wasn’t able to catch the ball anyway. This is about Cubs fans' guilt, giving him this ring. This is for you, Cubs fans. It's not to help Steve Bartman. He doesn’t get those 14 years back. I thought it was a stupid move."

Someone should tell this dumb Caller Bob that when Alou made that comment, he was no longer a member of the Cubs organization. I guess the Cubs need to control what all former players, not under contract say?

Further proof that if a woman has a thought, she should probably hold it.

The Cubs organization should have done more. Some of that is on previous owners.

It does seem a little disingenuous that it is basically "We won the World Series so NOW we can forgive you".

The Ricketts should have done a formal apology in "Year One" from the organization they bought about how certain former players and fans treated him.

The Red Sox pretty much did the same thing with Buckner. I think it was after the 2007 Championship they welcomed him back.

It took two World Series wins for them to go, "Hey, we don't want you dead anymore!".

This is false. He left Boston but returned as a player to a standing ovation a few years later at the end of his career.

They still did have a "Buckner Day" so to speak during Theo's time.

Right and it was after 2007. Even after 2004 the organization didnt really push for reconciliation.

Not everyone is as good as The Ricketts

The organization signed him as a player in 1990.

It was always going to be a cloud over his and the organizations head until they won a title though but the best they could have done was already done in 1990.

I just wonder why not after 2004? Why 2007?

I think it was probably to avoid the "We won the World Series so NOW we can forgive you" look to it.

I completely agree with this, but would add MOST of it is on the previous owners.
The entire incident was an absolute disgrace when it happened it 2003. The Cubs brass should have pulled Dusty Baker, Mark Prior, and Moises Alou aside immediately after the game ended....put a gun to their heads and said "We've watched the film...it wasn't fan interference. We had every opportunity to hold the game and win, and we failed to do so. That's the way it is and that's what you're going to say in the Press Conference."

This didn't happen and the Cubs let this non-story get out of control. in Terms of the Ricketts family...yes, in year 1 they should have came out and addressed this and the goat and all the other nonsense in year 1.

Lets get back to calling out another irrelevant talking head who is growing increasingly bitter since she knows her tv days are numbered and that her hockey indifferent network thinks so little of her & the sport she breaks out the knee pads for.

I look forward to the Ricketts' apologizing for funding racist political ideologies sometime before 2030.

I wonder how expensive the ring was that Scott Walker got?
