At last night's game, the Navy Leap Frog parachute unit had four people enter the stadium via parachute, the last as John Vincent was finishing up an overly melodramatic version of the National Anthem. The unit's support staff was in short right field close to second base, the parachuters landed in different places in the outfield.

After the Anthem ended, everybody sat down or went to get beer, and the players continued their warm-ups, mostly throwing and stretching along their respective base lines.

Except for Kyle Schwarber. Kyle had been at the edge of the dugout, he came over the the 3B line and dropped his glove, then ran out to the parachute team which was packing up and proceeded to shake every person's hand. Then he went back to the 3B line, picked up his glove, and started his throwing.

Good guy. Will be back with vengeance next season. Still could hit 30 home runs in 2017.

Grandstanding for the applause of a jingoistic crowd.

Yep. SAD that MANY are buying into it.

Not really. The military and veterans really seem to matter to him.

If any of them were Hispanic, Maddon would have ran out and given them a hug.

It's ashame that the Subdivision has to make wise cracks and derogatory comments about supporting our military. Losing is toxic I guess. Sad!

What you want? You a house or a car?
Forty acres and a mule, a piano, a guitar?
Anythin', see, my name is Uncle Sam, I'm your dog
Motherfucker, you can live at the mall
I know your kind (That's why I'm kind)
Don't have receipts (Oh, man, that's fine)
Pay me later, wear those gators
Cliché, then say, "Fuck your haters

Very bad thoughts. Nobody was applauding him, nobody was really paying attention. Even I wasn't really paying attention, I happened to be looking out at the bleachers and caught it from the corner of my eye.

And I'm not sure that being military has anything to do with it. (Yes, the team did the fake "hey, let's all thank the female sailor who the Navy paid to have stand here" thing later in the game.) I wouldn't be surprised if he did that with the next group that is there as well.

I am breaking bad from a Bernsie point of view whom would ridicule the jump in the first place.

Yes the jump was silly, they were promoting the Air and Water Show this weekend. Which reminds me that I forgot to take the day off and now I have a meeting in the office I can't get out of and I've got to deal with all the suburban dumb-asses when I try and drive home.
