I just hope he gets to be around when the team hits its stride in 2019. He has earned it.

"Singles hitter". His home runs barely clear the fence!

Top ten in the league in HR, RBI, Doubles, Triples ( ), OPS, Hits, and plate appearances.

Pretty pretty pretty good.

He currently has a higher OPS than Rizzo. Could tie it 2-2!

He's still denying reality over in the Sox game thread too. I don't see the big deal. He already admitted his Brett Jackson mistake. Time to concede this one as well

Altuve still has the higher slugging percentage. :)

edit: What am I conceding? Every single GM would take Altuve over Abreu or Rizzo over Abreu.

I rarely make bad assessments, but Abreu certainly isn't one of them.

Abreu has more HRs, more triples, and they have the same amount of doubles.

You need to concede the power argument. .258 ISO vs .214. Not close.

Okay, 6-3 255 Lb Abreu hits very slightly more HR than 5-6, 165 Lb Altuve.

You got me!

Congrats on winning that comparison. You still have the third best player in the debate.

Yes, it is very obvious Abreu should and does have more power than Altuve. This is why you should've just claimed you were joking years ago instead of doubling and tripling down on it.

Bad assessment #2 in this thread.

31 HRs not "very slightly more" than 23 HRs.

I'm really not sure how you get through each day.

25 HRs is very slightly more than 24 HRs, and the end of 2015 and through 2016 was when I was holding the opinion that Altuve was displaying more power than Abreu. Why am I going to discuss the 2017 season? Even when discussing Altuve vs Abreu I never claimed who would hit more HR over their career, or that Altuve would lead Abreu in x amount of seasons.

I was told Abreu had ridiculous power. And yet 5-6 Altuve was holding serve.

You know what I will never have to concede? That Abreu is better than either Rizzo or Altuve. So again, have fun with your uber power, sub par player. Best of luck to you that he would stick around during this rebuild instead of getting paid.

You have a few weeks left and then you'll have to concede Abreu was better than Rizzo 2 of the last 4 years. Like dolphin said, it's a tie now.

Reminds me of Aramis Ramirez. Terrible at the beginning of the year when team gets buried then puts up big numbers when it's meaningless, except this year they could have had the #1 overall pick until they started winning.

My narrative was that Altuve had more power than Abreu in the second half of the 2015 season and the entire 2016 season. If you can find a post where I said Altuve would end up with more home runs over any period of time in the future, please share the link.

This is what happens, Frank, when you try to insert yourself into a discussion without having the full complement of supporting facts.

Your narrative was that "Jose Abreu doesn't have Jose Altuve power." You posted that MANY times across MANY threads. You never put any time frame on it, but now you want to.

This is what happens, IMU, when you make a bad baseball assessment and continue to double down on it.

At the time, he didn't have Jose Altuve power. I'm sorry you feel so personally affronted by Jose Abreu having a power blackout for a season and a half. But anyway, as I said earlier, I'm glad your 6-3, 255 lb first baseman has finally shown he can slightly out slug (but still have a lesser BA, OBP, SLG and OPS) a 5-6 second baseman. Congratulations.
