Altuve is probably the MVP in the NL.

He's arguably the 3rd best 1st baseman in the AL Central this year. Good stuff.

Thank God Abreu is such a slap hitter. He goes 4 for 5 and yet Rizzo is still able to increase his OPS lead yesterday.

Subdivision is quiet. Juan Pierre Abreu is getting no love today.

Not much to say. He's solidly maintaining his OPS+ lead

FavreFan, as you were the one that lost $100 because of it, you might recall this debate was not about OPS+.

The bet wasn't about that. The debate has ranged across multiple stats. I'm fine going with OPS+

Abreu extending his lead over Rizzo in OPS and OPS+. Abreu even has a better WAR even though Rizzo is a much better defensive 1st baseman!

Rizzo's dumbass is slumping at the absolute worst time! Dude needs to shape up. Don't want to even this up to 2-2.

Should make 2018 interesting especially with the increasing chances that the White Sox surpass the Cubs.

I wonder if Stone knows that a random smarmy comment (FAR Superior) launched years long debate

Technically is was a smarmy thread started by bigfan that really spurned this.

It is a great discussion though, and it seems after this year, they will be neck and neck again. This isn't much different than the Frank Thomas vs Sammy Sosa discussions from 20 years ago.

yep, and like that discussion, we'll discover 10 years after the fact your boy was playing with needles sticking out his ass while our guy was squeaky clean and doing everything right.

So you are of the opinion that Rizzo is juicing, eh? Documented.

I think Rizzo is probably clean but am not willing to rule out him turning pink in the future

With the way HR numbers have shot up league wide the past few years, I'd say a lot of players throughout the league are juicing right now.

That might be true but I thought it was proven that the balls are doctored this year?

They don't do blood tests for steroids and the roids used today won't be detected unless they do blood tests. I'd say at this point it has become easy to cheat and MLB is content to not push for blood tests and pretend their useless piss tests are enough so long as fans ignore the reality.

It is 2017. Has anyone even mentioned total bases in 10 years? You guys want to tell me who led in sacrifice flies too? Which first baseman has the most putouts?

Probably about as long as someone used "singles hitter" as a put down for a 30 home run a year guy.

Eh, he ran into a couple. No big deal. You'd rather have Altuve as I've been saying for years.
