I was listening to a bit of the coverage yesterday morning (which pissed me off, since I was hoping to hear Cubs/Bears talk), and they said that Rupp was in the lead group until around mile 24, at which point he dropped a 4:28 (!!!) mile on the rest of the pack.

This was my first guess. It would be difficult for a US born athlete to show up and win and he not be a name sports fans knew. I ran for a bit with a guy from Morocco. I wanted to take him to some $$ prize 5k's around Orlando, but it never happened. This guy had the talent to win, and no one would have known who the guy was. He had no way to get to the races and wasn't familiar enough with the language to find a race, go to race etc. But he easily could have finished top 3. That's about the only scenario a no name could come in and win and not be suspect of ICARUS type activities.

I don't think Rupp was a "no name" do you? I mean the guy has a tremendous resume and medals to back it up. But now you wonder....he's been hanging with this Salazar guy a long time and Salazar definitely has some red flags.....
