Along with winning the WS in 2016, I hope that the Cubs sustained success provides hope for White Sox fans that rebuilds work and while things may be dark and hopeless right now, better times may be on the way. Keep the faith !!

It is in fact a good measure of consistency. I hate it.

I'm sure the Cubs will leave some of the apple behind so the Sox can have multiple bites at it too, Mike.

I honestly never thought of this until last night.

That is pretty cool.

I used to be very envious of the Cardinals and Giants and their multiple post season runs.

The Cubs are part of the elite class now.

Nice to see another city take over as "loveable losers". Almost felt bad for Dusty last night, almost.

It’s been a good three years. Cubs have been to playoffs 6 times since my 14 year old was born. I was 33 when they made it the 6th time.

Kids today are effing spoiled. I remember staying up late to hear if the Sting won in 1981, and actually being excited, despite the fact that I detest soccer.

"Finally, Chicago has a champion!" an ebullient Johnny Morris announced.

1964-1983 was the Great Depression of Chicago sports.

I am in same generation I assume. What’s more sad to me is it’s much longer 1985-today than 1963-1985.

In my lifetime (37)
9 playoff appearances
28 Playoff wins
6 Playoff series won
1 Pennant
1 World Series

Cant complain too much

Agreed. 3 years of intentional tanking was the right choice.

It was pretty bad. At least it launched a sorta renessaince with those Bulls teams and competitive Hawks for a short time there in late 80’s early 90’s.i remember the sting winning. But I didn’t loathe soccer. My brother played at the old stadium in some exhibition with the sting in one of their last years. I think we might have even gone to a sting cosmos game. I’m sure they were free tickets.

I hope the drive to match the Sox historical season continues to be an incentive to the cubbies. Unfortunately they will not be able to do it again this year after only the first series but some day...

is an event "historic" if no one remembers it happening?
