Visiting some friends in Ohio last weekend and we went to the Toledo Zoo. I was prepared for a piece of shit but it was one of the best zoos I've been to. Blew Brookfield and Lincoln Park out of the water. If you ever find yourself in that neck of the woods, give it a look.

Seriously?

Better set up or better animals?

I was as shocked as anyone

The animals were similar (no lions but had Elephants). The set up was just better. Closer together so you weren't walking down endless paths and you were right by the animals.

Kudos to Hank. It's hard to find a good zoo. And if I'm ever in Toledo, Ohio, I'll make sure that this gets on the itinerary first thing.

No. That's the thing. The enclosure for the giraffes was bigger than Brookfield and you could feed them lettuce for a few extra bucks. The animals just seemed happier. it was a nice vibe.

 I know. It sounds asinine. The monkeys were having a fucking blast. The bears were fucking around and interacting with the people.

I kinda wish my nieces lived here so I could take my nieces and nephew to a zoo. My youngest son just looked at me funny when I mentioned wanting to go to Lincoln Park Zoo a couple of weeks ago.

Zoos are great. San Diego zoo is my favorite but that is an easy choice.

Happier than being eaten on a tundra.

Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo is great.

The Riverbanks Zoo in Columbia SC is also really cool. Its a smaller zoo, but its attached to a botanical garden which was really nice. Very family friendly, and I also paid the few bucks to feed the giraffes a handful of lettuce.

we did the omaha zoo last week. it was pretty amazing. we did the lincoln park zoo 2 months ago and for a free zoo thats not horrible but the omaha zoo for like 15 bucks was a bargain. in many of the exhibits the animals are just like loose.

As long as we are recommending zoos, I would give a big thumbs up to the Malaysian Bird Park if you find yourself out that way. There are four or five sections of netted areas with birds flying all around that you get to walk through. For some of the more cantankerous birds, they have a non-walkable section.
