Visiting some friends in central Illinois last weekend and we went to the Lasalle-Peru McDonald's. I was prepared for a piece of shit but it was one of the best McDonald's I've been to. Blew Oak Brook and the Dekalb Oasis out of the water. If you ever find yourself in that neck of the woods, give the McNuggets a try.

Please know this was not a mocking thread, Hank. It truly is a wonderful Mickey D's.

Is this the one next to the Shell station by the interstate or the one 4 miles away? Or the on in the travel stop further east. So many choices.

They are next-level here. Like, you wouldn't believe it. McDonalds in France is legitimately palatial.

No, they got the metric system there, they wouldn't know what the fuck a Quarter Pounder is.

Been to that McDonald's many a time. We have farmland in that area, and I loved hitting it up for some double cheeseburgers after a day in the fields.

Uptown is nice, but I am more partial to Bartley's.

uptown is the quick and easy nice place when my folks come out. Gets them about half way home and they like it for most part and it’s open every day.

Do you know what they call someone who goes to a McDonald's while in France?

An asshole.

Free wifi and clean toilets. It's actually a very popular place.

Haha. I actually went back and reread my post thinking I might have subconsciously wrote before because also likely is true.

Does anyone remember when McDonald's would periodically do 29 cent hamburgers and 39 cent cheeseburgers once a month on usually a Wednesday? Those days were the best.

 Just glad I wasn't misfiring and coming across as a jag, as I have been recently.

But yes, I do remember when they used to do that. The line at 103rd and Kedzie was thirty cars long. Fortunately, I stopped eating McDonald's, but damnit, sometimes their cheeseburgers, when fresh and warm, hit the spot.

Was more the fan of two Big Macs or two egg McMuffins for two bucks. But yes, sometimes, McDonald’s still manages to hit the spot. Just baby go to that well to often.

Yep. When my cousin from Peoria used to work nights and weekends, we'd meet at Uptown twice a year for dinner on one of his weeknights off.

Do they own Seven? That fire seemed a little fishy, with a whole new concept they must happen to have ready to roll out.

Back in the late 90s when they still had heat lamps, there was a McDonald in a mall in Baltimore that had 39 cent cheeseburgers. I went in there and ordered six with no mustard and the manager was ready to kill me because he had to make me fresh ones.

Seven on Prospect in Peoria heights? Had a pretty good rack of lamb there a few years ago. When was this fire? Haven’t gone over to heights for food recently.

Somebody with the Twitters should let Pat Mannelly know so he can add it to his list of best "road game" stops.

Never know when the Snapper might make his way down here for Rip's Chicken.

Damn, I miss Lanuti's.
