It has to be hard to lead the crowd in "Take Me Out To The Ballgame" when you're down 9-1 and ready to lose the series. What do you say? They picked the perfect guy. He said, "Let's hear it for three straight Octobers of Cubs baseball!" You couldn't really do better than that in the situation. Good thing it wasn't some dope like Eddie Vedder or Bill Murray.

I hope this is sincere because I agree. Cheerleading at that point would seem disingenuous.

Totally sincere. I couldn't imagine what he was going to say until he said it and it was perfect. I can see why the guy is so beloved for someone who was never a star.

I was never a big Ross guy but that's one of the cool things about baseball. The fact that a guy like that, probably the 17th or 18th best player on the roster can get carried off the field is pretty cool.

Also, I want to give credit where it's due. The Cubs staff has gotten far more friendly recently. Someone must have told all those crabby old people to smile and be polite.

There was one guy who must have missed the meeting though. You guys know how crowded the concourse can be. Well, I went to take a piss last night and it was difficult to tell where the end of the line was. So I went where I thought it was and suddenly an Event Staff dope started screaming at me, "Hell no, you can't cut the line!" I giggled and he kept yelling at me. I asked where the line started and he just pointed and hollered, "Back there! Back there! Everybody needs to pee!" Hey shithead, how about a polite, "I'm sorry, sir. The line begins back there. I'm sure you didn't mean to cut the line."

Hated the guy when they first signed him. He'll be a manager someday.

I wanted the Cubs to hire him as a bench coach immediately ... see if they could groom him to eventually replace Maddon when he's done.

Rotate it now. Martinez up to manager and Ross as bench coach.

Give it a rest ... for a few months at least.
