After doing a LSU game yesterday and calling the Bears game nationally for ESPN he still made it out to Galena by 7PM to give the keynote for an Illinois Parks and Recreation Association conference. Thanks Bears for not blowing it and forcing OT and delaying the poor guy. Talked for 45 minutes and answered questions for 25 and may still be there taking pictures with people.

He probably could have kept an eye on both events simultaneously if needed.

Wow! Mocking a man's affliction,classy!

The one thing I will say about him is he needs a new color man doing Sox games. Joking about not picking up the check with Stoney wasn't funny 30 years ago when he (Stone) worked with Harry.

Free Ajent doesn't like this.

SHARK totally bit my Facebook post about him

Quote:
Jason Benetti called that Packers/Bears' game with Bill Polian on ESPN Radio (Outside Chicago) today. He was in Baton Rouge, LA for an Arkansas/LSU football game yesterday on ESPN with Kelly Stouffer & sideline reporter Julie Stewart-Binks. Benetti also called a bad Bulls' game on the WLS-AM 890/Bulls Radio Network with Bill Wennington Wednesday night, too.

Benetti is able to do all of this while Pat Hughes can't talk in a conversational tone for three hours without having to stop for a nap halfway through.

Seems like a really good dude. He works his tail off, as he calls games in multiple sports all over the country. Good pic on Facebook as well, KD.

Earlier this year, he did a Friday nite Sox game, landed in Florida at 3am to do a college football game, then went straight to the airport to make it back in time to call the Saturday nite Sox game. He ended up joining Steve Stone in the 2nd inning.

There's only one radio announcer in the majors who doesn't take innings off and most of New York wishes he would take the rest of his life off.

I know you've mentioned that before, but I don't like Pat Hughes to begin with and that just makes me irrationally angry so I'm going to complain about it as if he's the only one who does it.

And in the 5th inning, he rested.

I love Pat but his WS win call is all time bad. No excuse for a long time Cubs guy not to have something lined up and ready to go.

Being a long time Cubs guy he was caught up in the moment. Having something lined up is some gimmicky Joe Buck bullshit. Who cares?

No, but he's definitely a saint for the years of putting up with Ron Santo.

His WS call was terrible. He could have had something prepared without it sounding like some schmaltzy Jim Gray speech.

Terrific 8 minute video of Jason's recent appearance on WTTW's Chicago Tonight. He is fantastic. How he handles life in general and his CP is admirable. Total respect for this guy. He is a class act. He has really grown on me.

He lacks in the "being Hawk Harrelson" category though.

He was awesome on the Bulls call the other day. I think he’s better at basketball

I did see that, he did a very good job. Remember when the Swirsk called a few Sox games? Chuck did a good job as well.

Chicago Broadcast Team wife swapping... Pat Foley and Tom Thayer call a Bears game, Joniak and Eddie O on a Blackhawks call...

Are you serious? Swirsk was absolutely dreadful doing Sox games. There literally could be no worse. Joe Carter, Chip Caray, and Ron Santo all doing the game would be a serious upgrade.

Guilty as charged, Frank... I am a Chuck fan. I thought him and Stoney got along well and it was a good listen. However, I am biased - I like the Swirsk.

Been watching a lot of WSox games and this guy has really impressed me.

Ya he's sort of goofy nerd looking the the guy was probably picked on all his life for his looks but he's fought thru that and is the announcer for a MLB ballclub.

Stoney is terrific partnering with him.

When both of these guys are on their game, I feel like i'm listening to the radio on the porch since theyre style is so easy on the ears.
