Decides to quiet all the chatter about being replaced by Russell Wilson or a rookie by... launching three INTs, all of which were converted into TDs by the Packers.

Carpe Diem!

Nine sacks? This guy isn't a rookie. You can't bring him back. Add Cleveland to the list of teams looking for a QB.

Cleveland
Carolina
Detroit
Houston
Seattle (assuming Wilson is gone)
NYG (possibly)
Miami
Denver
Washington
Atlanta (possibly)
Pittsburgh

What is it with teams unwilling to cut their losses proactively?

He was pretty solid the 2nd half of last season and in 7 of the 1st 8 games this year. After that he was terrible. The question is - was he affected by injuries? If that’s what the evaluators think then it makes sense to bring him back.

He's a gamer, but I never thought he was really good. He had a lot of good to great talent around him. I'm going to miss his commercials.

It's because with a rookie deal you get the player for free. They are fully guaranteed and the Browns already picked up the option for next year this past offseason.

that's why I think if you're the Vikings new GM you immediately let it be known that you'll listen to offers for Cousins. Cousins only has a year left on his current deal. If Rodgers and Wilson stay put and Watson is still in limbo, Cousins becomes the default next best option for teams who thought they were getting one of those guys this off-season.

On the other hand, if Rodgers leaves Green Bay, and how the playoffs go will likely determine that--but no more Rodgers in GB, struggling Fields in Chicago and whatever Detroit's doing, Vikings with Cousins should walk to the Division title. Although all that likely gets you is a first or second round playoff exit, and maybe that's enough. But if you're a new GM and you want long-term success in Minnesota, flip Cousins for picks. He should bring back at least one first round pick and multiple later round picks. You might get 2 1st rounders for Cousins if Wilson/Rodgers/Watson don't move this off-season, simply due to pent up demand.

Who?

You could draft a guy, but by all accounts this is a bad QB class. Probably wasting a top 60 pick.

Cousins or Jimmy G? You're not spending significant resources like that to not even get a significant upgrade over Baker.

I guess they can try to get a guy like Mitch or Minshew, but any QB competition would either cost too much or Baker would likely win.

i think they have to give him another chance next year. the injuries were a problem this year.... but even when healthy i dont think he's going to be the reason your team wins a superbowl. which is what you would have hoped for when you drafted him #1 overall

Might not even be ready for week 1.

As a Vikings fan, we're not winning anything with Cousins. I would be willing to trade him for either Mayfield or Carson Wentz provided that we also got a first round pick in return.

I hate to break this to you....no team is giving up a first rounder for Kirk Cousins.
Ryan Pace might have done that, but he's no longer General Managing. We all know he loved giving away first round picks.

I think he wants a first rounder and Baker Mayfield or Carson Wentz.

For Kirk Cousins.

I think you can win with cousins behind an exceptionally strong defense and running game. He seems apt for that kind of Trent Dilfer role with potential for a few bombs here and there.

Tough to win with a guy who consistently plays his worst in the biggest games

You could if he wasn't also being paid $100 million a year.

They literally had that when he arrived. Plus 2 stud receivers and a good TE at the time.

If you're going to build up Baltimore Dilfer era defense and running game....there's MANY QB's you could put under center and win. Shit...I'd even trust Mitch back there.
