Great point.

Nah his edge was in that he was simply a better player. He was a dominant point guard whereas Stockton was not. And in the era in which Isiah was dominating Stockton was an afterthought. Stockton was putting up better numbers when Isiah stole a couple of championships with his all star team. Isiah's all star team didn't face the peak Lakers, Celtics, Sixers, or Bulls.

Isiah played until he was 32 and Stockton played until he was 40. Stockton has more total points, assists, rebounds, steals, blocks, better shooting percentage, free throw percentage, and a better 3 point percentage. If you want to compare Stockton's numbers over his best 13 seasons to those of Isiah's, it wouldn't help your argument either. The only edge Isiah truly has is championships. Isiah stole 2 when the Lakers, Celtics, and Sixers were declining and Jordan was playing alone. He also needed an all star team to do that.

Stockton absolutely destroys Isiah and nearly every other player in NBA history if we start to look at the analytics/advanced stats. Stockton is 3rd in value over replacement. Isiah doesn't even crack the top 55.

If that's your standard you have to admit that LeBron is indisputably better than Jordan. See, that's why it's impossible to argue with Jordan fanboys who grew up wanting to Be Like Mike. They will always shift the parameters to whatever favors Jordan. LeBron's numbers are better? Well, the numbers don't tell the story. Mike was a finisher. He wanted to destroy his opponents.

His edge over Stockton is TWTW. Just like that's Jordan's edge over LeBron.

There were always those games where Isiah was 2 for 12 from the field and the Pistons were getting spanked. Then the fourth quarter came. Zeke went 8 for 9 and the Pistons coasted to victory. Fuck John Stockton.

Isiah and Stockton played in the same era, under the same rules, and were essentially the same size.

Whenever best PG conversations are being discussed by their peers, Stockton and Magic are generally called the best for a reason.

Yeah, because Stockton and Magic are "nice guys" and Isiah is a prick.

Magic, sure, but Stockton? What'd he do, bounce the ball to Malone a dozen times a game.

Stockton may be the most overrated player in the last forty years. He was too stupid to shoot (and most thought he shortchanged his team) and was the master of the pick and roll no one outside of the weirdos in Utah would pay to watch.

Isiah is pound for pound one of the greatest players ever. That said, if I needed a PG for my team, I'm not taking his weasel ass over Magic or Stockton.

  Yes, I have no love for Captain Hook and those Pistons teams. They made a young Nas cry more than once. MJ and Kobe were world-class assholes, but they're still beloved by their peers. Why? They weren't weasels.

Weasels? Let's put it this way. If I had to invest $100,000 with Jordan or Thomas, I'd give it to Isiah. He might lose it, but I don't think he would fuck me out of it.

I doubt the people financially invested in the CBA would share your sentiment.

Yes, NBA players love them and want to be like them. If Isiah died tomorrow, who would cry?

Like Hyman Roth, Jordan has made all of his partners rich. Isiah can't say the same. I would give my money to Jordan.

If we went out to dinner with both guys, there's a way better chance of Isiah picking up the check.

It's funny that The Missing Link and I are the only guys in this thread who didn't grow up wanting to Be Like Mike.

I wasn't a Jordan Stan, either. I'm not going to give weight to the words of a bitter weasel though.

Yeah and during that Same Era Isiah was regarded as the 2nd best point in the game behind Magic and it wasn't even close by the way.

And since you are so high on "Career" #s look at Zeke's and Look at Stockton's. Stockton's career #s are "eerily" close to those of Mark Jackson's. Another dude that never was all that elite who posted "career" #s mostly because he played almost 20 years in the league.

It’s funny that he still thinks that it was only Jordan that didn’t want him on the Dream Team. Bird, Magic, Pippen and probably Drexler all had reasons not to want him around either.

I’m guessing that Daly didn’t mind a golf filled break from him as well.

I posted Stockton's and Captain Hook's numbers while the Pistons were winning championships. Stockton's numbers were better.

Longevity impacts career averages. Isiah wouldn't know anything about that. No one considers Mark Jackson to be a top 2 PG. Isiah's and Stockton's peers consider Stockton to be the best or 2nd best.

It's ridiculous to suggest past or present players like Isiah more. After failing in the CBA multiple times, Indiana, Toronto, and New York no one wants to touch Isiah. The owners went out of their way to make Jordan a partner. Players blow Jordan so they can be apart of his brand. Isiah blows LeBron so he can get love from LeBron's stans because he's bitter. Just like Scottie.

Stockton doesn't even scratch "honorable mention" for the 1980's All decade team. Guess whose #2 at the PG slot?

Just because people respect Jordan the player doesn't mean they like him as a person. He has nowhere near the relationship with guys in the league that Isiah has.

And it's ridiculous to think just because the owners can exploit Jordan and make money off him that they particularly like him as person.

And this pretty much kills the argument about which was the more "likable" guy amongst other players in the league. I had to remember this. Isiah was the President of the Player's Association for a number of years.

Stockton doesn't even scratch "honorable mention" for the 1980's All decade team. Guess whose #2 at the PG slot?

Just like Scottie.

Jordan adds value to the NBA community. Captain Hook adds bitterness. That's why he's an owner and Isiah is cleaning the studio for some NBA show.

Isiah was head of the players union. Which means he was well Iiked by other NBA players. What was Jordan doing at that time? Gambling with Slim Somewhere? Just Asking A Question

This is pure trolling. The most valuable thing Michael Jordan has added to the NBA community after his retuirement is Kwame Brown.

While Isiah was positioning himself to be relevant after basketball, Jordan was making the NBA a global giant and putting millions of dollars in players' pockets. As the great Wilt Chamberlain said, "every player should give Jordan 20% of their salary. "

And the Dennis Johnson that played with Boston was hardly the DJ that played with Seattle and Stockton still couldn't beat him out for the top pg of the 80's slot.

The Jordan brand, along with David Stern, turned the NBA into a multi-billion dollar conglomerate. No athlete has meant more to the earning power of professional athletes and leagues than Michael Jordan. This is a fact.
