Well, birthdays are merely symbolic of how another year's gone by and how little we've grown. But you have to compromise a bit to be in a relationship or you are going to die alone. I spent my 40's jumping from one girl to the next. Sure the random sex with different girls was fun. So was having all the free time I wanted to do whatever I pleased. But then I realized if I keep this up eventually time will run out and all that free time will be spent alone in a nursing home. I've come to change my thinking to life is better if you share it with someone. Sure it requires a bit of sacrifice, but I am much happier now being in a relationship.

And this dying alone thing? That's pure fear. 1) everyone dies alone. No one is going with you. B) Dying is just another moment in time. I'm completely at ease with my mortality, or at as ease as possible a mortal can be.

I don't necessarily mean the exact moment of death. I'm talking more about the last year or two of life. I don't have kids so maybe it's a little different for me.

There's no such thing as a 50/50 compromise. We all instinctively want 51% or more. Collaboration is fine, but I can understand how there comes a point in time where "compromising" with a biological woman is pointless. It appears to be around the time the kids become adults.

I wouldn't encourage anyone to start over later in life, but I'm enjoying this process far more than I did the first time around. I don't think I could love anything or anyone more. Besides, he's already smarter than me, so I just have to pretty much put food in front of him.
