As a concept a poverty simulation could be a useful tool in demonstrating how much it sucks to be poor. The execution of the simulation always ends up being stupid as fuck. Unless you actually have these people waiting to catch a bus in the middle of January so they can wait in line to apply for benefits, the reality of the situation is never going to register.
