Biggest cruise ship ever. They put a bunch of things you can do on land much better on a boat that requires a massive amount of energy to move one inch.

I hope they at least have to use the same terrible paper straws on there that we all have to do to stop global warming.

some people love cruise ships. Some of my family like them. I like to watch those shows about cruise ships. My one and only experience was not as pleasant as going to a resort. My wife was talked about one of those river cruises but I don't think I'm old enough yet to make that transition

 to the old for a river cruise. I feel similar.

I was on a Royal Carribean cruise when the Voyager of the Seas came out. At the time that was the largest ever boat. Way before go cart tracks and all the other things. I have been to resorts and I have been on cruises. There are things I liked and things I didn't on both ways of vacationing.

I think the best advice it to know what you want and what to expect before. Do a lot of homework. That way you are not disappointed.

At this point in our lives my wife and I do not want to be around kids on go carts or a bunch of 20 somethings on a frat party cruise. Celebrity is probably our low end consideration and definitely not Disney (although it is supposed to be perfect for that demo).

I don't like to be confined to a space or need to get drunk to convince myself that had a great time. I hope my pimp hand remains strong enough to avoid another cruise.

It's fun sometimes to think about things that we look at from 100 or 200 years ago and say "How did they think this was a good idea?" and wonder what we do that will be viewed similarly. I have no doubt that these massive cruise ships designed to let fat people gorge on buffets, drink massive amounts of alcohol, while they kind of watch their kids unless they pay the upgrade to have a random person watch them over international waters while they move at speeds that wouldn't even get a speeding ticket in a residential neighborhood while being almost certainly the least efficient use of fossil fuels in the history of the world.

cruises have existed for millenia. They are just more democratic today.

They existed as a mode of transportation.

Just did a river cruise last fall (Germany/France). Wife and I just under 50, and out of the 190 passengers, I'd guess we were in the group of the youngest 10? We really enjoyed it, but there can be a lot of luck (good and bad) involved with river cruises because of water levels, locks, etc. Drought and the water is too low to cruise. Floods and the boats can't make it under the bridges. We were fortunate that water levels were good the entire trip. I've read stories where people pay for a 7 day cruise, but never actually cruise, and end up bussing from boat to boat. That would be awful.

Went on my first cruise last year. It was fun. Don't know if I could do that ship though. 7000 people I think I heard

Agreed that would be terrible.

This cruise ship looks like it is Wisconsin Dells with a larger chance of stomach ailments.

I'd consider doing a Disney cruise without bringing any kids along.

I loved the cruises I have been on. I did not think I would enjoy them.

I love the structure that is provided both on the boats and at the ports. There are a gazillion things to do, but then you do not have to do any of it. The food options are plenty and really good. The service is always good.

For us it cuts down on the amount of planning and fights we would have about deciding what to do and where to go.

And with everything included the prices are not bad.

It got better once some cruise lines realized they needed to make packages more comparable to all-inclusive places when it comes to alcohol. Right or wrong most people do not wish to have a $500-900 bar tab and tip bill at the end of the trip.

The planning of the trip is part of the fun. I enjoy putting together an itinerary.

it was never fun here, always led to fights and issues. So it helps us out. The two cruises we have went on we got along wonderful without any stress. Other trips have been stressful to say the least

I agree with both of you and also did not think I would like it.

I also agree with this. We just got back from San Diego, visited multiple fun sites and thoroughly enjoyed the trip. Same with a trip to Spain/Italy last summer. There is some satisfaction when a multi-stop vacation goes well. Still, that doesn't mean that a cruise isn't enjoyable. It's just a different experience.

I used to think they were this until I actually went on one. Now I am a BIGFAN. We leave for our 7th in a couple weeks. I enjoy the research and planning as well as waking up in different country every morning. Love the big ships. And we never partake of the buffett -- my wife hates them.

Brick, you do know that there are fat people gorging on buffets and drinking tons of alcohol in just about every vacation spot known to man

So you are saying I should be thanking these cruise ships for taking away most of these people from places I go?
