I think Kaepernick will be what McNabb was, til he gets hurt

McNabb in his prime would be at worst probably the 5th best QB in the league right now. It would be awesome for Kaepernick and the 49ers if he was that good.

I think people mistakenly think Kapernick plays like RGIII or something with all this injury talk. He very rarely gets hit. He's probably less likely to get hurt than the average QB.

I dont have the numbers, but I would be comfortable saying that the more a QB runs the more likely he is to be hit.

Its just hard to have sustained success as that kind of QB. Even the ones who seemingly have a good arm and can throw usually become mediocre when the run threat is gone or faded.

Randall Cunningham had his best season in his 13th year. McNabb had a pretty good season his last year in Philly when he basically couldnt run at all anymore. Vick had by far his best season at the age of 30 and was still running well at that age. I dont think there's been enough double threat QBs though in general to try to draw any type of career profile or career arch.

I understand why that's intuitive, but here's a decent article suggesting there's no difference between mobile QBs and pocket passers when it comes to likelihood of getting injured.

Randall Cunningham is the exception

McNabb ran less and less as he got older. Almost completely a pocket passer in their best year.

We will see. I like Kap. Im just not all the way sold yet. Ive seen too many flash in the pan types

Donavon McNaab is not a Hall of Famer. Not even close.

Scroll down towards the bottom of the page, and look at the similar players throughout his career. To say he is "not even close", is not accurate.

Kaep is horrible. This might be his last year as a starter in the NFL.

Yeah, but at least he can keep on bragging how he was only wrong on the Cubs by 12 games this season!

Reminds me of the day I heard Terry Bradshaw spew out his love for a rookie QB named "Kordell Stewart"

I'm sure you think that's clever conns, but that's a really dumb graphic. Cam has one old TE to throw to and nobody else.
Oh, and I'm not up on the current standings, but what are their teams records?

Anyway, I was told in the last couple years that Kap and his fairly expensive contract was a better option than Cutler.
By really smart fans.

The Kaepernick contract was one of the most team friendly qb contracts ever given out. He got one year of guaranteed money at a very reasonable rate. They can basically cut him any time going forward with no more money owed.

If the Bears could somehow get the money owed Cutler off the books next year by a trade I'd rather have Kaepernick as the starter next year, and we know the Bears showed interest in trading for him before. Still have to draft a rookie qb too though.

I'd take Kaepernick in a heartbeat. He can still be a very good QB and I like him better than Cam.

Terrypeeps backed Alex Smith.. I backed Harbaugh- Kaepernick ... I was right.. He was wrong ... I have plenty of Brett Jackson's..just don't think CK is one of em. Bobby Portis is probably my next Brett Jackson.

I'd still take CK over Cutty in the blink of an eye.

Alex Smith & Jay Cutler have both been better than Kaepernick this season.

Alex Smith has been a good QB for the last several years, even if he isn't flashy or doesn't put up huge TD numbers. He never loses games for his team. And he has had a crap receiving corp for awhile.

He's got a great tight end, he had Bowe until this year and the second best back in the NFL.

Smith is a good game manager..that's it ... Kaepernick will be on a new team and WIN games @ qb..not manage a game.

The 49ers are a dumpster fire and also have had an abnormally high amount of injuries/retirements.

He'll be a starter somewhere else and pretty good. If I'm the Texans I'm all over him next year.
