I think the point is the Pirates and Royals and A's have all had several 5 year plans as have the Cubs. They have not won SHIT. Baseball defies logic it is its own thing and is beautiful. Theo might do it or might not. To act as if it is a guarantee as some do is asinine.

Hahn fucked up going into the season with two huge ?? marks in the rotation and a shitty danks as a known. Sale goes on the DL every year, you know that's going to happen. This current rotation might be the worst in Sox history. I'd research it if I cared.

None of that nonsense has any relevance with my point, the Sox are not contenders for the playoffs this year...the royals and pirates are.

Sale has never been on the DL before right now. And if you think this is the worst rotation in Sox history, well come on, I think Ken Brett may have led them in wins one season with 10. And if you're doing research you may want to check out the teams in 1933-34.

alright. DL, banishments to the bullpen, whatever. You know the guy is not going to pitch 250 innings.

Quintana
Danks
Carroll
Rienzo
Noesi

'76 rotation was better. '32 rotation was FAAAr better. 1921 looks horrible. They had a guy Shovel Hodge looks like he'd fit right in on the 2014 roster:

How do you figure that? Gossage and Forster couldn't cut it as starters. Gossage was a one-pitch guy. Granted it was an explosive fastball, but that wasn't going to work going eight or nine innings.

common sense. Noesi, Rienzo, Carroll would all have ERA's over 6 if given enough innings. Danks' is gonna be about 5. One could argue Quintana is better than any of the 76 team (true) but I prefer to focus on the negative.

BTW what happened to Wilbur that year?

Jesse Jefferson. There's another guy who'd fit right in today.

So it this basically Hatchetman's complaint?

WHY DIDN'T HAHN FIX EVERY ISSUE ON THE THIRD WORST TEAM IN BASEBALL IN ONE OFFSEASON?

I think that was the year Wood took a shot off his kneecap that shattered it.

I understand and applaud you preferring to look at the negative. True Sox fan stylee! But the difference is that nobody ever thought Carroll and Noesi would be in the rotation. It wasn't part of any plan. and hopefully they won't be there much longer.

I just think he could have signed another replacement level starter. Cubs find these guys right and left, and flip them...maholmes, feldman, hammels....

We sign one and after three starts he's so bad they have to make up a phony injury.

Nobody pitched 250 innings last year, or the year before.

Oh well, then it is perfectly acceptable to go into a season with only three starters and no "plan Bs"

Those are two different arguments, but plan B was to bring up the likes of Rienzo, Carroll, etc. Look around baseball, and tell me how many teams have reliable guys in the back end of the rotation.

Which free agent starters should they have signed? It's not like Hahn kept the checkbook in his pocket. He gave $68 million to Jose Abreu.

Hatchetman...you're not doing so hot lol.

Sale DL...Maholmes and Hammels? ERA would be higher if pitchers given more innings?

You do know how ERA works, yes?

Hammels is exactly the kind of guy Hahn should've signed. Yes, Carroll's ERA will be over 6 if he pitches 120 innings.

His name is not fucking Hammels.

Earned Run Average.

Average figures don't necessarily go up with a larger body of work...you know...on account of it being an average and all.

what are you talking about? You're the guy that insists Abreu won't hit 60 homers. You know home run average doesn't necessarily go down with a larger body of work, right?

How fucking drunk are you?

Only five players in the history of major league baseball have ever had a 60 home run season.

Three used steroids.

Do you know how many players have had 13 HR through May 10th in a season? Lots.

Cubs fans amuse me. It's the Sox fans who think Hahn can't be criticized that have me perplexed. WTF kind of attitude is that?

I wish Sox fans appreciated talking baseball instead of always feeling the need to prove themselves, prove their team, or "one-up" the guy they're have a discussion with.

It is certainly some sort of complex.

I didn't bring up the Cubs. I'm not bigfan, coming to troll White Sox fans.

I pointed out that Hatchetman doesn't even know the names of Cubs players. That is all.

I have no problem objectively discussing the Sox, Hahn, or any other team or its respective personnel.

Abreu is a hell of a player. Rizzo is a hell of a player. Hahn has done a good job at GM. Theo is on the right path and I see improvement on the way.

We've got all of that stuff past us now...what else?
