I was a huge Leno fan but the criticism of Fallon actually makes me want to watch his show now.

But with Fallon, it seems like that's all there is, aside from how excited he is to be there.

In all the talk about Fallon's supposed earnestness and authenticity, no one seems to bring up the fact that this is a man who spent six seasons on Saturday Night Live and made a movie with Drew Barrymore, to say nothing of any years of dues-paying before then. I think a certain level of jadedness with show business will be accepted, if not expected, after a life spent in it. Tina Fey, with roughly the same career trajectory, gave us 30 Rock. Jimmy Fallon gives us viral videos where he's happy to be here. What does this man do when he goes to work each day? Does he gawk at the skyscrapers and subways like a vacationing Nebraskan because it's so amazing that people built them?

Let's move on from Fallon and talk about Timberlake. I detest that fuckwad. I'm sick of hearing how well-rounded of an entertainer he is. I don't like his music. He looks soft, talks weird, and seems obsessed with his image. His movie roles consist of him just reading lines. Everything he does is bland, which I guess is the intention. He wants to appeal to the housewives and their emasculated men. There's nothing controversial about this douche. A group of agents, executives, and publicists molded him from tofu and imbued him with the spark of life. Weird Science by the entertainment industry. There also seems to be a sickening amount of straight "men" who think he is funny. Why? Because your Caller Bob wife or girlfriend laughed at him and Jimmy Fallon playing grab ass on SNL? Probably the same type of sackless pussies who talk about having a "honey do" list. Who does this little bitch appeal to? Actually, I can picture Tom Waddle talking about how talented TImberlake is.

There was a great piece a few weeks ago -- either Gawker or Jezebel -- about how JT sold Janet Jackson the fuck out when the FCC came a-callin'. What a little shit.

Timberlake gets a lifetime pass for being in Southland Tales, as does everyone else who played a part in that wonderful mess.

Fallon is infuckingsufferable. He's the guy Grantland would choose to host a late-night show.

So much hatred going so many different ways

Fallon is fine.
Kimmel is fine
Conan is pretty good
Leno was pretty bad
Letterman is a shell of his former self
Ferguson's accent just ruins it

Carson had no competition. I know he was good, but would he be so revered if there was another option? Maybe not.

Also, had Carson had to deal with TMZ he probably would have been forced out much earlier.

Timberlake is hilarious on SNL with and without Fallon.

He's just one of the better hosts the show has ever had.

Why were some people up in arms over Miley Cyrus doing something hip-hopish at an awards show, I saw words like "cultural appropriation" and "racist" thrown around, but Jimmy and Justin doing this is just adorable and peachy-keen with everyone?

Also, one thing I noticed at the beginning of this History of Rap skit is the same thing that is, IMO, making SNL increasingly difficult to watch -- shrieking teen and 20-something girls. Anytime some dreamy hunk of host does anything, it doesn't even matter if it's funny or suggestive, it sounds like Ed Sullivan just introduced the Beatles.

I have no idea what you're talking about but Justin has done similar skits for years on SNL. All of them were hilarious too. I don't know anyone that thinks blacks own that genre of music. In fact one of the top 3 rappers of all time happens to be white.

Maybe, but I think Carson was way way better at interviewing his guests than any one else you listed.

He was also a badass drummer.

I'm admitting to being bad at something right there in that post.

I'm coming dangerously close to explaining something here in direct violation of board rules.

JT is someone I SHOULD hate. Male pop star, former boyband member. But he seems like a cool guy w/ a great sense of humor. He just might be the entertainer of this generation. #MoveOverJacko

He reminds me of a michael jackson type minus all the monkey, glove and kiddie stuff. Don't get me wrong not nearly as big as Thriller stuff. I just mean style wise.

Bumping this thread to say that holy shit, I can't check facebook once a day without people posting clips of Jimmy Fallon's latest wacky dalliance with celebrities. Most days, they're even in the upper-right corner as Trending. Look! It's Will Ferrell! And he's playing drums! And so is another guy! AND THEN HE PLAYS THE COWBELL! LIKE HE DID IN A SKETCH FROM FIFTEEN YEARS AGO! PEOPLE STILL FIND THIS HILARIOUS! And seriously, it's been something like this each and every single day since we had this thread three months ago. My God.

Maybe we'll reach a saturation point where Jimmy Fallon clips become so ubiquitous that they no longer Go Viral and are just an accepted part of our daily internet maintenance, like junk mail and banner ads. Maybe Google will develop an extension for Chrome that blocks all incoming Jimmy Fallon.

Most of the Fallon clips on Facebook are more amusing than any other shit that gets posted. I really enjoy the barbershop stuff. Fallon is fine in small doses.

Conan posts the funniest FB stuff. Looking back on this thread,it looks like I really like Fallon. I do but I'd take Conan AND Andy over anybody else. Those two guys crack me up everytime I watch.
