This has been the problem with this thing all along. The Cubs ask for something, get it, and then change the terms. I really hope they do move to Rosemont. And then we'll see how they do without the ballpark that separates them from everyone else.

Getting rid of day baseball and soon to be completely leaving WGN will do more long term harm to the Cub brand than leaving Wrigley would.

I agree. A night game at Wrigley just isn't the same. There are few things more fun than a day game at Wrigley. And that's coming from a Sox fan. But soon most of the day games will be gone and they'll play a schedule similar to everyone else. Obviously, the night games have to do with TV revenue and the huge deal they expect to get with their own regional network. In their rush to get the things everyone else has, they are willing to abandon the advantages only they have.

Day games are not an advantage. Its a unique cool thing but night games are better for the team (attendance, TV, performance)

Performance is debateable thats my belief but the others are clear. If day games had the same attendance I'd agree but they don't

It's all part and parcel of their branding though. "Baseball the way it used to be." The day games are part of that. Tear out most of the ivy for bullpens, put a bunch of LED boards across the outfield, block the rooftops, and play a schedule like everyone else, pretty soon all you've got is a crappy team playing in a park that's only marginally more comfortable and lacks any charm.

But maybe I'm wrong. Maybe the Cubs have a giant fan base that will love Schaumburg or a fucked up Wrigley. Or maybe they can modernize the park without fucking it up. But I doubt both of those scenarios. I'm not saying if I were running the team I wouldn't try to increase my advertising revenue. But I'd be very careful about how I went about doing it.

All teams play at least 25 day games right?

They'll always have some, I don't think that's essential

If there wasn't so much red tape I'd say have all Friday day games

I'd be fine with that. Friday day games are great. I don't really like 3:00 starts though.

It doesn't seem like it, but you're probably right about each team playing around 25 what with early season games and Sundays.

And sat and getaway days

We've got all the right ideas but contracts are a motherfucker

I'll bet there'd be more support for a decent team

All teams EASILY play 25 day games.

Are we saying "host" 25 day games or "play?

Ah. I'd still agree that every team hosts at least 25 "day" games. Hell, an average of one/week gets you to that # real fast.

I chose a random team before reading your post and went with Seattle. They have 36 day games left on their schedule. I counted their part games and their parcel games. :D

The answer is simple to the day game issue:

Put a roof over Wrigley. We can then get the Final Four!

Case in point.

The fact that you would refer to anyone else as bitter is just another example of your lack of any rational sort self awareness.

You are so angry and bitter you are unable to even grasp the simplest posts made by others when they disagree with your increasingly negative world view.

Once again Seacrest. No reason to be bitter because you got your ass kicked. Why don't you sit this one out too champ.
