LaRussa, Dombrowski and Hemond for starters. Some people would say Leyland. They keep Jerry ass-kissers under their "loyalty" program. You go far in a Reinsdorf org by kissing Jerry's ass.

You're talking about things that happened 20+ years ago, when Reinsdorf let Hawk take control of the franchise. He corrected that mistake rather quickly. Where is the evidence of a sustained pattern of purging "elite" talent within the Sox organization?

Where is the elite talent? There are a bunch of yes men. He'll probably let Williams run Hahn off eventually. Maybe make Darryl Boston the GM.

The team had more success in the 1990s than it did in the 1980s. I take that as an indication that your theory of a "consistent" purging of elite talent within the organization is incorrect.

Imagine if your the Asst GM at the local Piggly Wiggly. You worked there for 20 years. You have been groomed to be the GM.

Then afer 21 years, the GM announces his retirement and the CEO steps and says the head cashier is going to be the GM and you are fired.

That story though doesnt get out as much as the "Pay Jay Williams after the accident or pay for Bill cartwright" from the vast coffeurs of the chicago bulls.

What's Dan Evans doing these days besides stealing money from people for a bullshit on-line scout school?

doesnt matter what he is doing NOW. Your desire to defend all things Sox seems to blind your evaluations sometimes, like this one.

If you were the longtime Asst GM and got fired for the guy under you, would you call that loyalty.

And as long as you are talking about Scams, wasnt all that Scam and Kickback in the minors going on under Kenny Williams with what he called his 'best friend"?

It very much matters. Kenny has a long successful run as a GM and Vice President while Dan Evans was a disaster and is on the outside looking in. Jerry picked the right man.

So you are disagreeing with JORR's argument that Reinsdorf purges elite talent to remain loyal to mediocre talent? Because I think we all agree that Evans was mediocre at best...

Kinda hard to be the GM when you got fired, so yes, he would be looking in.

The only thing I can say, is that if Evans was made the GM, he probably would have had much more control than Kenny did and the Exec Comm the Sox used would not have been in place, which is exactly why Kenny was "named" the GM, because of the exce comm making the deals.

He could be hired in a different capacity like the Yankees hiring Jim Hendry after he was fired. I guess he'd rather rip people off on the internet.

Isn't Evans currently a scout for Toronto?

I think he's a "consultant". So maybe he is back in the game. Good for him. Jerry picked the wrong guy!
