Really? I was there for the first time last year. It seemed nice but I wasn't impressed with the food or drinking water.

He grew up there and is haunted by memories of the dullness of Wisconsin. He'll be around as soon as he sees your thread title.

Everybody we ran across seemed very friendly. We ate at Giordano's and both the food and glass of water seemed "funky".

Lake Geneva was ok, but I also didn't really know what to do. We went on a boat tour of houses, and then we rented a jet ski for an hour, and then we were like "Now what?".

We really are kindred spirits. I am sure my mother will won't to go down there next week while she is in town.

Jimmy gives Lake Geneva a shout out then goes on to say it just "seemed nice" and then blasts the food and water.

Definitely shout out worthy with that endorsement.

The shout out was for the beauty that is Lake Geneva.

Sounds like more of a shout out to Mother Nature than Lake Geneva.

Lake Geneva's drinking water does have above-average arsenic levels. However, Lake Geneva does not have a Giordano's, unless I'm not keeping up on things. There is a Gino's East. Did you mean Gino's East?

The lake itself is beautiful, the boat tours are nice, but the town never figured out how to adapt to changes in tourism. Shitty food doesn't get it done anymore.

Haha, Delavjuan? That place isn't better than anything. It's the Gateway to Janesville. Lake Geneva, for all its faults, at least has the lake.

I believe I've said that I like Madison and Milwaukee, and that I have a lot of great memories of my family's summer home in Mukwonago. La Crosse is not without its charms as well as long as you don't get drunk and fall off the bluffs. It just didn't serve me well to grow up around both white trash and serious money in a dirt-poor school district.

LaCrosse is also bad if you are drinky and near the river. To many people have suddenly disappeared, some truly believe there is a serial killer up there. I am just messing with you, I know you have said good things.

Far less annoying douches. Fairly easy boat access. However, unless you get on the water at 6 am the water skiing conditions are absolute dog shit.

Delavan Lake is a dump. If you want to putter around a bunch of reeds and algae, you might as well save on gas and go boating on the Chain-o-Lakes. At least it's not as bad as Lake Como, which I think has become about one-half marshland.

The little communities around Lake Geneva, like Pell Lake, Como, Lyons, Lake Ivanhoe, Springfield, et al, are absolutely chilling. Those more than LG itself were the real pain of living up there. They're nothing but cottages, bait shops, and Packer bars. Sometimes the last two are combined. The people who inhabit them can go toe-to-toe with Appalachians for genuine full-on redneckery, no exaggerations.

When DB changed his avatar, I had to revive Silver. It makes me laugh as one of the best bad movies of all time. Terry Silver is an absolute animal.

You never disappoint CH. BTW, how extensive are your travels? Given that you would only rate a few states, I got the feeling you haven't gotten out much. At times, you seem well traveled. I am worried that your Wisconsin upbringing may have resulted in you being overly sheltered to the joins of this world.

Most Midwest (Chicago and surrounding areas) natives are well versed on WI, IL, and FL because that is where we either live or vacation as children.

I've lived in Illinois, Wisconsin, Missouri, and Florida. I've visited Minnesota, Tennessee, Arkansas, Kentucky, Georgia, California, Pennsylvania, and Indiana. I'm doing the best I can here.
