I agree a real supper club would be a tourist trap, but once again, it's a short season up there, wouldnt last if thats all they did.

Places are always for sale up there, Popeyes was the most recent. Been there twice. Really terrible.

At least it's not as bad as Lake Como, which I think has become about one-half marshland.

I was there once. My buddy's wife's aunt has a place on the lake. They had the place for the weekend, and invited us over.

It's an interesting town in that it's not really a town at all. There are no city services, there's no downtown, no shopping, no schools, no nothing. It's just a big colony of summer cottages that have been turned into year-round residences. Seems like a weird way to live to me. My sister's ex-boyfriend was from Como. He started chewing tobacco when he was 14.

It did seem a bit odd. Nothing but tiny little shacks, that people called houses.

Spent a summer there in my yute! Lived with another family in a 3 BR house. Parents each got a bedroom and 6 kids slept in the last Bedroom, we had 2 of those 3 level bunk beds.

Then a LR and Kitchen. 1 Toilet.

Was on a pretty big piece of land.

Went back to see it a few years ago...and Tiny little shack is exactly what I tought and wondered how the hell we fit 10 people in there for a summer! It was like the size of a garage and looked like shit....the lot was still good sized and as I remembered.

Lake Geneva is an overrated, over crowded touristy piece of crap.

On the other hand, if there's a better vacation lake spot in Wisconsin than Green Lake I'd be shocked. Large lake that isn't extremely crowded like Geneva, its also the deepest lake in Wisconsin and has great fishing. Quaint town with good dining options, proximity to great golf and only 3 hours from Chicago making it just far enough to be a good weekend destination.

I have always had a good time when visiting there. Greg and Mark Licht used to run a Basketball team I played on and they have a Mansion on the water next to the Wrigley's, where we used to have team parties. Plenty of bedrooms, so many stayed the night and well into the next day. Huge hot tub on the deck and a chef would cook up some great steaks/chops. Great walleye fishing too. Underrated fishing there. Restaurants tend to be overpriced around there, as are the hotels, but that's to be expected at places that are popular. Some nice golfing around there too. All in all, pretty darn good.

They rented those in the Williams Bay/Fontana area too. Great memories of summer vacations at the cottage in LG.

I'd have to agree on Green Lake. When I was married we would do July 4th there every year. Never got to golf but I
am familiar with the courses there from when I was a yute.

I generally play Lawsonia twice a year. Links course I can usually finish with the same ball I start with. Woodlands, not so much. Both are beautiful.
