KENNER, La. —

Two teachers at a Louisiana high school were arrested after allegedly having sex with a male student.

Shelley Dufresne, 32, and Rachel Respess, 24, are each charged with one count of carnal knowledge of a juvenile and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile, according to the St. Charles Herald Guide.

Authorities say Dufresne and Respess had a sexual encounter with a student who was 16 at the time. According to WGNO-TV, the two teachers met the student after a Destrehan High School football game on Sept. 12 and drove to Respess' apartment in Kenner where the three had sex together.

WGNO reported that school officials began investigating after the student — who is now 17 — began "bragging to other students that he was having a sexual relationship with teachers." He reportedly told investigators the encounter was consensual.

Former students told WGNO the student and two teachers had been involved in a relationship for some time, meeting for sex multiple times and documenting some of their encounters on video.

“Nothing surprises me anymore really, but I do believe it's lack of a better judgment. They should have known better," Kenner Police Chief Michael Glaser said in a Wednesday press conference.
