Principles. The committee will select the teams using a process that distinguishes among otherwise comparable teams by considering:
Conference championships won,
Strength of schedule,
Head-to-head competition,
Comparative outcomes of common opponents (without incenting margin of victory), and,
Other relevant factors such as key injuries that may have affected a team’s performance during the season or likely will affect its postseason performance.

If OSU pounds Wisconsin AND the QB looks decent, I think OSU would squeak in with a top 4 loss.

But the whole system will be suspect if Alabama gets in after a loss to Mizzou.

I agree that this is going to be a good year for College Football Playoffs. I'm really hoping that OSU doesn't somehow sneak in, even if they do I don't see them really competing with the loss of Barrett.

they do look great. Shouldnt have lost to Baylor. Dont care who played, who didnt, etc. You have 2 teams, with 1 loss. cant have a better tiebreaker than the game between them.

I have a hard time putting TCU in there, due to the head to head loss to Baylor. Head to head is always the first tiebreaker.

Destroying Wisky is a lot more impressive than destroying Iowa St.

While it certainly is better than the BCS, FCS having a playoff format limited to 4 teams is ridiculous. FCS has a 16 team playoff. DIV 11 has a 16 team playoff, & DIV 111 has a 32 team playoff. FBS Should have been an 8 team playoff format, which would make the selections a lot easier & wouldn't create any controversy by leaving someone out, which will surely happen this year.

1. Alabama
2. Oregon
3. Florida State
4. Ohio State

I would love to see Florida State left out, but I doubt that will happen & as the only undefeated team, they should make it.

And losing to Baylor by three on the road is a lot less damning than losing to Va Tech at home by two touchdowns.

Latest rankings had TCU in the 3 spot, ahead of FSU, so I think this whole discussion is a moot point. Unless the committee all of a sudden thinks TCU got worse than FSU (which, based on yesterday, I'm not sure how you reach that conclusion), the decision will be between FSU and OSU...and I don't know how you leave out the one undefeated team, who happens to be the defending national champs.

Baylor, TCU, and OSU all have legitimate beefs, but I believe the scenario that I presented, is what we will see later this morning.
