Nothing new here at all other then someone deciding to report stuff which has been consistently said for well over a century.

Leo the XIII in the 19TH CENTURY.

Lamarcke and Mendel were at the forefront of biological evolution. Look it up for yourself.

Why do people think that climate change is new?

Because there are prominent denominations (fundamentalist Christianity, Islam) where religion and science are incompatible.

Well there was that Galileo thing about 400 years ago. That pretty much confirms the Catholic Church is anti-science.

Well, it does, but the smart religions have realized that it is time to defer to science and then attach their own "beliefs" to them.

"it is time"

The Vatican Observatory is about 500 years old.

When did the Vatican accept evolution?

They were very accepting of science that didn't conflict with their story but of course they would be.

The Pope has come around to my way of thinking. God created the Big Bang which in turn created everything else.

Mendel and Lamarck were leading scientists in the field of evolution.

I would think that SICP would have been all over teaching Lamarck based upon his Jesuit background.

As Seacrest references, they didn't need to accept what they were instrumental in developing.

There has never been an official Vatican position discrediting evolution. The opposite is true.

Of course they need to accept Evolution. I don't even know what that means. You either accept it or you don't. They were involved in some of the precursors to the theory but who cares? Evolution contradicts many passages of the Bible if taken literally.

As you know, it was formally accepted in 1950, 90 years after Darwin published his book.

They may not have officially discredited it but who cares?

Religion cannot be tested. There is no experiment. "Faith" is NOT testable. There has never been credible accolades from the science community about any kind of religious discovery.

Science is all about tests and experiments. And then re doing them. Over and over again. There is never a faith test in a lab.

Religion can do nothing but contradict science. Thats its core intent. You cannot say it doesnt contradict when religion believes a deity is timeless and not explainable. Your god cannot ever be tested. evolution can be. Big bang can be. Climate change can be.

Some parts of religion are definitively testable.

The science of DNA supports the biblical assertion that we are all descendants of a common mother.

And the core intent of religion is not to contradict science. That may be your personal feeling but it's not supported by anything other than that.

That mother isn't human either, which contradicts a lot of the Bible.
