congrats Dolphin, they looked good. Watched them all weekend.

If the big guy can stay out of foul trouble maybe they can make some noise in the tourney.

Defense was great

That level of defensive intensity will play against anyone.

I hope they pushed themselves up to a 6 seed. Three double digit wins in conference tournament play is pretty impressive.

How will they do against a team with size? Krutwig may not be 6-11, but he's a big body and it amazes me how well he knows how to play. He's got a few moves offensively, too.

They play defense like some Big Ten teams.

Some of the guards have to pull the trigger on those jumpers, though. Coach draws up some weird plays that go nowhere.

Should be fun.

Loyola isn't short. They just don't have high end height. I'd be fine with Lucas Williamson at 6'4" playing defense against any sized perimeter player. Then Uguak at 6'7" can handle anything but a center.

That Drake center is 6-10, 275 with some skills and Krutwig handled him just fine in all three games.

They're going to be a 5. And it's going to be Illinois' bracket.

I could see them being an 8 with a second round matchup against the Illini or Final Four rematch with Michigan

Not going to lose any sleep over it, but why is a team ranked 18, with rpi of 20 an 8 seed?

Committee wanted a Illini matchup. I had thought they'd bump them up a little to 5. It didn't occur to me that they'd unfairly bury them at 8. Take a look at the 6s and 7s. Is San Diego St a 6 and Loyola an 8? I don't think so.

welcome to Fuckedville, population you.

Getting Georgia Tech and Illinois back to back is about as tough a road any 8 in history has had to travel. Back to back games vs ACC and big10 tourney champs.

Compare that to one of my favorite teams, LSU. Also an 8 they have to go through St. Bonaventure and a limping Michigan team in those same games.

I just had a sneaking suspicion it would happen.

The Committee likes to set up those types of matchups while claiming serendipity

That was a complete fuck job and entirely expected.

This whole system is built to get the name brands into the second week of the tournament. The frequently put the small guys against each other so that they can have a definite cute story the first weekend.

I don't think there was a single metric that had Loyola lower than the 20s. The committee not only puts them in the 30s as an 8 seed, they don't even put them as the best 8 seed.

Tough game versus GT. Impossible game against Illinois. At least both are big schools that will provide lots of exposure.

The truth is, Drake gets an easier path as an 11 seed than Loyola gets as an 8.

There is no such thing as an "impossible" game when your opponent is Illinois.

Ramblers finish off the regular season ranked #17. Fuck you selection committee.

2.5 favorites against GT. I think I prefer them in the underdog role. I'm sure they see themselves as underdogs anyway

Ramblers just caught a huge break. G Techs center Moses Wright, ACC POY, said to be out for game vs Loyola.

Crutwig gonna go off if he can stay out of foul trouble.

line jumped to 5.5 with that news

That seems rich, but Loyola is really good at defending the perimeter from within the three point circle and GT will now be a perimeter team that doesn't shoot threes well.

Krutwig really doesn't foul much anyway but GT doesn't really bang in the post. Even Moses was more of a slasher.

Experts, even on the national level, have been saying for the past month or so that this team is better than the final four team. Those same people seem shocked that Loyola is making another run

Things worked out with the bogus #8 seed.

It seems to me that if Loyola scores 70 points, it's hard to imagine them getting beat. Other than Baylor and Gonzaga, who can score 70 on these guys? Oral Bob U?

Ramblers get a bit of a break in the Sweet 16 with Oregon State upsetting Oklahoma State. I don't know much about Oregon State players but they have a lot of momentum.

Early line is Ramblers -6.5. That seems insanely large. Loyola has won its last five games by double digits

Pressure is on. For the first time ever. No one is saying, "this is a nice little team".

I have a bad feeling.

Is there really pressure? Making the Sweet 16 is a good season for just about any team and they are favorites to move on.

I'd say there's a little pressure. They just knocked off the #1 seed. They have a pedigree and players who have been to a F4. And now they are up against a team seeded even lower than them for the first time in either of their runs (aside from the 8 vs 9 match up). They'll be expected to win for the first time, that could introduce some pressure they haven't felt before.

I suppose.

I'll bank on the seniors now playing in the 8th NCAA tournament game of their careers to be fine.

It's pretty amazing to say that: There are players from many big programs who don't have as much experience in the tournament as these Loyola guys

Moser looks like Underwood so far today.

It's pretty tough to get good looks run high ball screens against a zone defense.

And their shooting percentage and scoring output reflect that at halftime.

Oregon St. is only up by 10, but their lead feels insurmountable.

Woof -- scoring 16 points in a half on 17% shooting isn't going to win you a lot of games.

At least we're used to Chicago teams stinking in big games.

Moser has changed the offensive approach, but the shots still aren't going in.
