Go 500 in conference play and play in a mid-tier bowl in 2016, 2017, 2018 2. Have Lovie stay long enough so that his first two recruiting classes graduate and compete for the league championship - so 7 years total including this season with Cubit's recruits. 3. Have a plan in place so that Lovie's successor is either the OC or the DC and is groomed as such they are in the West....so, they should be able to be a leader every few years Mich, Mich st, Ohio St....all in one divsion....OK, that looks fair.... Yeah. The reason those three teams are in the same division is they are huge rivals and the Big Ten wants to make sure they play each other every year. No. It's not fair. The other division has an easier path to the Big 10 championship game. Lovie should take advantage like you say. |

Seriously Doc? They've sold $400k in season tickets in the last 24 hours. And those are just the ones I've bought. I'll bet they've sold others. |

Went from a school that had no black coach ever, to the only power 5 conference school with a black HC, OC, and DC. |

Louisville has had fun offenses but that may be more because of the quality of their competition. I don't know if Mc Gee was doing the recruiting but Louisville has had a series of pretty good QB. |

I'm guessing those assistants the were just recently hired before the coaching change just got a free years pay out of it. |

Didn't see this mentioned elsewhere, but the rumor is that the money behind the hiring is none other than Shad Khan, the billionaire owner of the Jacksonville Jaguars, who is an Illinois alum and built his empire almost from scratch -- and also met his wife when they were students at Urbana-Champaign. |

Lost to Yale for a kid today. Marist's Micah Awodiran picks Yale over BCS offers By Edgy Tim August 11, 2016 5:05 PM It's not everyday that one of the Midwest's top-ranked recruits passes on multiple full-ride athletic scholarship offers to verbally commit to an Ivy League school. Yet that's exactly what Marist three-star inside linebacker Micah Awodiran (6-foot-1, 215 pounds) did on Thursday. Awodiran (6-foot-1, 215 pounds) gave Yale his verbal commitment this afternoon. Awodiran, who was touting well over 20 BCS-level athletic scholarship offers had narrowed down his list of favorites to Yale along with Illinois, Duke and Vanderbilt. "I just wanted to tell you I gave Yale my verbal commitment," Awodiran said. "Yale for me is just the best fit over the next 4-5 years and academically and athletically it's the best place for me." Awodiran explained why he passed on several BCS athletic scholarship offers to pledge to the Ivy League Yale Bulldogs. "Yale just offers such a unique experience both on and off the field," Awodiran said. "It's just a close knit family at Yale and I was able to spend time around the football program as well as just talking to students and teachers. I've always placed a high value on academics as well as athletics and Yale is a great fit." |

Sure. Why would anyone want to go to Yale? Actually, I'm a big fan of Yale. Been there. Personal connections. He made the right choice. It's awesome. |

I think Lovie has a 2017 recruiting class of 7 players. Pretty much every other team in the country has 20-25 commits already. When Illinois fans were hoping he could do more with less, I don't think they meant less players. |

This century they have been 0-8 in the big10 more than they have had a winning record. 4-4 in year 1 would be a success. |

This recruiting is a little strange for him given the uncommon time he was hired but it seems like he is going to be outworked on the recruiting trail. That isn't a shock for an NFL coach who already has generational money. Harbaugh is an anomaly because he is insane. He's going to have to coach them up and then use that momentum to get better recruits to jump in I think. I think he will do well but the results may take a while. |

That seems like a perfect system for the NCAA |
