Someone told me recently that Alexander called Illinois and said he was going to commit right before he pulled that stunt. Is that true?

Wouldn't surprise me. But I don't know.

I also wouldn't be surprised if he couldn't see which hat he picked up because they were facing away from him and just thought he should go with it.

it sure appeared like his father got a big pay day with that decision

he made the mistake of taking short money. If he played for the illini he would have been able to find work for life around the athletic program, even if he sucked
