Weird year in the Big 10, with 8 teams forecast to make the tourney, but only one of them consistently ranked (not counting Rutgers who will fall out of the rankings this week).

Yeah Purdue choked big time down the stretch. If you can pressure their guards you can give them trouble. Smith will do some crazy stupid things at times.

It's pretty amazing that the most dominant player in college basketball somehow didn't get fouled the last 7 and a half minutes of the game when he had shot 13 free throws prior to that. Very strange.

Yeah he got fouled in that stretch a couple times, but when you got smith flailing around like an idiot out there it is pretty hard to get him the ball. Dude needs to calm down.

They made some mistakes for sure and missed some wide open shots but they dominated the game until suddenly Northwestern discovered how to play perfect defense against Edey without fouling in the last 7 minutes.

Well they better get adjusted to it. The refs are going to hold back on the whistle down the stretch in both the big 10 tournament and in the big tournament.

Their guards have to play better and they have to hit free throws. They have good a really FT team all year, but the last couple games they have been cold in big moments.

It's a lot different on a neutral court though. It happens all time in Big Ten road games. The home team gets away with a ton of stuff especially playing a better opponent.

I find it really surprising Pitt is leading their conference, beat at least three teams ahead of them and can't crack the top 25.

Northwestern is a great story.

I think they will be an easy out in the tournament and I'd put a star next to their name as one of those higher seeds playing against a better lower seed

Edey was getting mauled all game. Maryland had 0 fouls through 14 minutes in the first half. The second half was similar.

However, Purdue lost all composure in the second half and Maryland outplayed them.

With the way this season has gone, I’m looking forward to the opening days of March Madness than I was for any NFL weekend this year.

Really good big 10 battle today between IU and Illinois. IU did not deserve to win that game. missed free throws. terrible turnovers. But somehow outlasted them at the end. Mayer got cold in the 2nd half.

I'm not sure if the cats are that good or the rest of the B10 is not.

They may win the conference regular season

The dream season ends this week as Northwestern goes 0-2.

Would have never believed that IU could beat Purdue at their place with TJD being taken completely out of the game.

Hood-Schifino was the best player on the floor.

Brick, how you feeling about your Boilers going to tournaments? Have they peaked too early?

I am doubtful that any big 10 team plays past the sweet 16 this year.

I feel great. Not worried at all about the past few weeks. It's still a one game tournament and anything can happen but the last IU game is the only one that I think was a concerning loss. The others were more about the #1 ranking than it was anything else.

I don't think they've peaked too early because they are one of the youngest teams out there. If anything, these are the growing pains they should have had in November.

The refs were to blame for the Northwestern loss. All the other losses were legit.

I'd be concerned about Purdue's all freshman backcourt. Don't get me wrong, they've been great. But, tourney is all about guards and I don't know if I trust 2 freshmen to play well for 6 straight games with that kind of pressure.

The future is very bright because they both look like 4 year players and will be absolute college studs during that time.

They aren't winning the national title. I'd put it at 50/50 for them to make the Final Four.

The guards are a concern for sure. What they really need is one of the upper classmen to step up to help them. Loyer is getting run down a little and he's being asked to carry too much of a load. If they want to make a big run they need Brandon Newman to provide the type of production he can.
