Game of the night was Purdue winning the Big Ten by stomping RFDC and Kirkwoods IU!

the way Purdue's been playing lately that was a big accomplishment.

Northwestern vs Michigan tonight I believe. Just when you thought things couldn't get shitter for NU, now they get one of the 2 hottest teams in the conference.

Purdue has won 7 of their last 8. I can't wait to see what happens when they are playing well!

Winning, but winning ugly vs some bad teams.

If they are going to start playing well I suggest they do that soon. Calendar says March.

They have played better this year than they have in the past few games but they aren't really playing bad.

The Big10 is such shit its hard to tell who's legit good and who isn't. I remember one year when the big10 was down and everyone wrote them off and they got several teams deep into the tourney. Not saying that will happen this year, but who knows. Eye test tells me they don't stack up with the other power conferences (except the SEC), but its hard to judge that without recent non conference games between power conference teams.

The conference isn't good. Only Purdue and Maryland seem to be good and MSU probably gets in on the bubble and then goes to the Final Four like every year.

and Maryland's lost 3 in a row.

Minnesota might be the team to watch in the conference. I've only seen them once, but they looked pretty good with some good size and a good guard leading the way.

Wow, what an amazing finish to the NU game. If you're gonna clinch your first ever NCAA birth, might as well do it in epic style!

As great as that was, the big news of the night happened a few hours later when UCLA's leading scorer, TJ Leaf crumpled to the floor with what looks like a pretty bad ankle sprain. Devastating news for UCLA if he has to miss the tourney or isn't 100%.

March Madness pretty much tipped off last night with the Gonzaga vs St Marys game. It was close till the last 10 minutes when Zags stepped on the gas.

Things start ramping up today with 4 solid ACC games, particularly Miami vs Syracuse and Wake Forest vs Virginia Tech.

Allen with a technical and no points. Going to be interesting tournament for Duke. Quick exit?

Virginia Tech game was fun to watch.

Rest of the games tonight kind of suck. I'm left watching DePaul and Xavier.

Holy shitballs DePaul is winning here at the end of the first half. Could it be another Zach Zaidman Christmas Miracle?

That Georgetown-St. John's game gave me a warm, sentimental feeling.

NOpe, that was some meta level genius coaching wizardry he pulled off today. He just managed to get his team, which already has a #1 seed locked up, 3 days of extra rest and avoids the injury risk and wear and tear of playing a couple more games vs some very tough teams who they already beat up on all year.

And all he had to do to accomplish this masterful tank job was suspend his 2nd best player for some innocuous traffic incident that happened over a month ago. He only has 3 good players so no surprise that they lost without Josh Jackson. He's arguably just as important to their team as Frank Mason.

So now they lose but they have a great excuse as to why they lost. Result? They get a free pass to a #1 seed and unlike the other #1 seeds, they don't have to play any meaningless games the rest of the weekend.

Kansas had literally nothing to gain and everything to lose by playing in the conference tournament.

Great chess master move by Bill Self.

Northwestern beats Maryland; should erase any doubts about being selected to the tourney. Notre Dame beats Florida St to go to the ACC Championship game.

There weren't any doubts. They were already in the second that buzzer beater went in vs Michigan last week.

What a day of ball! Thanks to my sports ticker blocker I managed to watch 11/12 big conference tournament games (Oregon vs Cal wasn't available on directv).

Bracket is going to be tougher than ever to pick this year as every single team has looked like utter dogshit at some point in recent weeks. My thoughts on yesterday's action:

Big East: As bad as I've ever seen Villanova play and still somehow squeaked out a win. Jalen Brunson was awful until the final 2 minutes. But, what I don't understand is why Jay Wright continues to start and play last year's NCAA hero Kris Jenkins. He is easily the winner of national least improved player. Guy spent the whole summer sitting on his couch watching last year's one shining moment on a loop while stuffing his face with twinkies. He's fat, slow, and can't shoot anymore. Can't even hit a free throw. Whole team sucks when he is on the floor. Yet, he keeps getting a ton of minutes.

ACC: There isn't a hotter team in the country than Duke right now. Hate having to write that. They actualy remind me a bit of Villanova in that they have so many great perimeter scorers and don't have a lot of size. But, Nova plays better D and has a true PG, something Duke can't say. But, on the other side, Duke has better slasher/scorers who can get easy baskets. UNC showed a fatal flaw last night...if Berry is on the bench the team is shit.

No time for more, too much work to do at office.

The win might bump them up a seed or two if that but it seams in past years tourney performance has had little affect on seeding. Still good to see NU play well. I'm thinking this has to be their first time ever to the semi's in conference tourney but very possibly I'm wrong. It's a little different looking team than the Ricky Byrdsong teams from the mid 90's.

WMAQ just confirmed first time in semifinals.

Iowa State with a 12 point lead on a brutally grindy West Virginia team. Could be their 3rd B12 conf. tourney championship in 4 years. Maybe a 4 seed.

It will be a joke if Syracuse gets in to tournament.

Kudos to Michigan for overcoming the travel difficulties to DC to win the tournament
