Rumors he is interested in Mizzou job.

Lots of Indiana people want him fired.

Already starting to see this make the rounds...

Report: Steve Alford Interested In Indiana Basketball Job 4
posted by Thomas Beindit on Mar 10, 2017
If the Indiana job were to open, UCLA coach Steve Alford would have "significant interest" in coming back to IU, per multiple sources. #iubb

— Justin Albers (@Justin_Albers) March 11, 2017
According to a report from Justin Albers, former Indiana player and UCLA head coach Steve Alford would have interest in the Indiana job, if the position were to open. Of course, as Hoosier fans are well aware, there is ample speculation regarding Tom Crean's status with the program. Alford has seen mixed success at UCLA. During his four years with the Bruins, he's made the NCAA Tournament twice and likely will make it this year as well. However, his 2015-'16 season was a notoriously bad one and he has yet to make a deep NCAA Tournament run. Nonetheless, this will be an interesting story to follow.

I've always thought Tom Thibodeau would be a perfect coach for Indiana, but I understand his desire to slay the NBA beast.

Sad but true. Now winning the Big Ten has become the goal.

It took IU 9 years to figure out Tom Crean was used car salesman living off of Dwayne Wade. POTFH

Crean deserved to be fired.

But let's not forget the absolute dumpster fire he inherited from Sampson.

The program is in much better shape than he found it.

He was a good recruiter, but was a terrible in game coach. He could not make adjustments to save his life.

RFDC is right. I was lucky to spend my four years in Bloomington during the worst stretch of IU buckets.

The program was in shambles once Sampson left.

Who are the top targets?

Bennett, Miller, and Williams? Have to get one of them, correct?

They want Alford. Huge buyout and expensive for average results.

Why Alford? Nostalgia? He's been pretty mediocre, and he got Ball because of location. I don't think the rest of the family would follow Alford to Bloomington.

They should hire Alford and fire him after a year to get it out of the way so no one keeps asking for him to be hired.

Yeah I get that, but this really isn't a mess.

There is definitely a lot who want Alford. I am not one of them.

My pie in the sky choice would be Brad Stevens. But that is not happening.

I would rather they go with someone like Miller than Alford.

Yes, nostalgia. Us Hoosiers aren't smart people.

Nostalgia is pretty much why.

Williams is the only one that scares me. Recruiting IU is easy. Coaching is hard.

It is a mess. You don't turn down a NIT home game and then fire a coach at the exact time the NCAAT starts if it isn't a mess.

The next guy may work out well but I'm enjoying this moment.

This is dumb of me but I was thinking of Gregg Marshall.

 Gotcha.

I dont think Marshall is leaving Wich St, but that would be a good choice.

So if this is a mess, then what did you consider things after Sampson?

Clearly that was worse. That was a catastrophe but the kind that is cool to watch.

Already reading people throw out Billy Donovan.

yeah I don't see that happening. Maybe if he thinks Westbrook is gone and they will go into the tank.

But he is making a ton of money with the Thunder

Donovan said when he moved his big driving was getting away from all the requirements of running a college program. He could focus on basketball 24/7. he also walked away from a top job at Florida where he was making 4 M.

My source tells me that Sean Miller not Archie Miller will be the guy.

And if they hire Alford I will take a couple years off from the dumpster fire.

I have seen reports that Georgia will fire their coach and make Tom Crean their coach.
