Looking forward to this year.

Mich St appears to be the favorite going into the season. Several other teams have the potential to make some noise.

Indiana and Illinois get to see their new coaches in action.

Can Northwestern be good two years in a row?

How will Purdue be without Swanigan?

I wonder if it will matter that NU plays its home games in Rosemont....

That’s going to be odd. Welsh-Ryan was nothing special (And probably a true pit now if they hadn’t upgraded it) but hauling out to Rosemont for a year would blow.

I just hope to see some actual coaching. He will probably be a good coach and a shitty recruiter.

Down 20 in the first half to Ind State. Ind State 9 of 13 from three point line. IU like 1 of 10.

Start up the Fire Archie thread

What happened? Did they get blown out by Indiana St or something?

Funny. I know completely that Indiana is shit this year.

They may have been but these tournaments can be weird. They are actually playing #2 Arizona in the 7th place game tonight.

Hopefully it's just a case of them not playing well in a conference hall that gets turned into a basketball gym. A team that shoots so much from 3 can struggle. If not they just suck and we'll find out soon enough.

#2 Arizona, #18 Purdue. Someone's leaving the Bahamas 0-3. Crazy.

Probably Purdue.

Get home and figure out how to shoot again.

Shooting has been a problem, but the bigger problem IMO is they have looked soft in the paint and on the glass.

And barely lost. Shoot even mediocre and things are much better.

True. But I am thinking of life in the Big 10. If they are soft inside that is not going to bode well for success.

We will see how they play out of a conference hall.

Rebounding will be an issue but it's only looked bad so far because they've shot much worse than they should. They are built to score.

Was at the Illini game tonight. Played UNC-Central. Sat in second row, right behind Underwood. Guy's a trip--very funny. Gave the scorer's table a nice karate chop.

The Illini have little inside presence.

Leron Black showed a few flashes of decent inside play, but they're gonna need more than that against teams not named NC-Central.

I've actually been enjoying this Purdue/Michigan 2nd half. Not sure how one of these teams is ranked 5th in the country and the other is unranked. Seem very similar.

Good game, cliche but true--tough to win on the road in Big 10 hoops.

tied up, 1:16 to go.

Not sure why this review is taking more than 3 seconds. Very clearly out on Michigan there.

yeah, even in real time, the trajectory of the ball seemed to require that the Michigan player controlled it a bit after the Purdue guy whacked at it.

phew, picked up Purdue ML at +125 on Bovada live when Michigan made that 2nd half run. Have Boise State going off at +145/+3.5 now. They're on the road against Fresno State, but Mormons travel well.

Michigan is improving a lot during the year but they also provide a terrible matchup for Purdue as they have one of the few big men in the country that can take advantage of our 7 footers on the outside. Purdue was better than Michigan last year and still dropped both games to them. I expect Michigan is ranked soon enough though.

Purdue dominated most of the game and was lucky to win.

the first win @Crisler in A2 for this group of Purdue seniors...and they won it by a point on a reversed out-of-bounds call followed by a barely off the mark last second shot from Michigan. A bit lucky but good win for the Boilermakers.

regardless of the outcome of that review that it took almost 6 minutes is absolutely absurd. the ball deflected out of bounds call that historically is a ball goes back to the offense call is being ruined not by it being gotten right but they are always these long drawn out reviews. they should get a minute or 2 and the tvs go off. if it takes 6 minutes the call should be inconclusive and stay as called.

that being said, michigan had horrible offensive sets the last handful of minutes and i don't think they'd of been any different, the game woudl of gone to overtime and they would of lost.

that said, this team gets better each week. i think the big 10 tournament at the end of the year is going to be a good one.

welcome to conference road games in CBB this year. Lots of parity, you're going to see a lot of ranked teams lose to unranked conference opponents on the road.

This year there has already been something like 11 losses from top 5 teams. Last year there wasn't even 10 in total for the whole season.

This is why no sporting event should ever be watched in real time. DVR and fast forward is your friend.
