Welcome back! Coaches poll is out today with many of the usual suspects in the Top 25. #6 Washington starts the season #10 Auburn. Miami also plays LSU at AT & T Stadium in Texas. Who knows what will happen with Ohio State; they also have TCU in Week 3. Wisconsin probably will be hanging out at #5 come October, but then it gets a little difficult. Northwestern has just about the best home schedule I've ever seen a Big Ten team have.

1. Alabama (61 first-place votes)
2. Clemson (3)
3. Ohio State (1)
4. Georgia
5. Oklahoma
6. Washington
7. Wisconsin
8. Miami
9. Penn State
10. Auburn
11. Notre Dame
12. Michigan State
13. Stanford
14. Michigan
15. USC
16. TCU
17. Virginia Tech
18. Mississippi State
19. Florida State
20. West Virginia
21. Texas
22. Boise State
23. UCF
24. LSU
25. Oklahoma State

Well, shit.. I had a reply here. Might be headed into Northwestern vs Nebraska this year. Have a friend bugging me about it, I don’t think I’ve been to a game in Evanston since 95.

I know there are a bunch of bad guys involved but damn, I love college football Saturdays.

I'm trying to get a ticket for NU/ND this year. If not, any home game would be fine.

if mich had its QB last year they are playoff contenders. this year even with the playoffs with that schedule, they go 10-2 and come in 3rd in big ten east.

i think its penn st/bama in the champ game.

No,but NU got some votes. They had one of their best seasons ever last year and I think some star QB transferred there in the off season.

He sits this year. Thorson is a senior and being projected in the top two rounds of the NFL draft (I would not project him there) so they are good at the position this year. The only thing preventing the cats from a top 20 finish is a tough schedule.

I think they have 18 starters returning. They also have everyone at home except Penn State. No Notre Dame. Apparently, they circled the game with Ohio State--OSU beat them by like 50 last year.

Personally, I'm hoping it is Georgia vs. Big Ten. I assume Alabama will be in it, though, even if they lose their last game and don't even make their conference championship, like last year.

Alabama has a QB controversy. Jalen Hurts isn't real happy. He's just not that good throwing the ball, though. It was front-page news on the little Alabama paper I was reading this morning. In any case, I don't think Saban cares.

Will Maryland beat Texas once again?
Will Illinois run the table in early September?
Will West Virginia start strong and then fold?
Will Jim Harbaugh continue to be a *yawn* as a football coach?
Will Auburn luck out of another intersectional opening game for the third year in a row?

(Yes; no; no; yeah; no)

Heard on the Illinois game today that on a kickoff, any fair catch inside the 25 will be considered a touchback. What an odd rule.

Illini, of course, caught two kicks and ran out of bounds inside their own 10.

When you get backed up on a kickoff due to a penalty to your own 20, if you kick it out of bounds, does the other team get it at their 35 still? Seems like a good call if I'm kicking.

Happened today and the Illini caught it at about the 25 and took it to midfield.

Louisville should be suspended by he NCAA for these uniforms. The ruby slippers helmet and design of the numbers is bad enough, but on top of that the numbers are also glittery/shiny? Christ...

Might work for a militant Broadway version of The Scarlet Letter.

Chip Kelly is now 3-18 in his last 21 games as a head coach. At least UCLA covered the +29.5, 49-21.

I really hate the end zone fumble rule.

And I'm rooting for Clemson
