Clear favorite to win big 10. They're real talented.

Guess no one told the rest of the big 10 that the Illini were going to win this thing on their way to the final four

It warms my heart. I was getting worried that the Illini might increase their fandom by a few thousand folks in Chicagoland. You know, kick them up into the top 20 of college teams in the area?

I know you’re joking a bit but I think the Illinois basketball program has a solid following in the Chicago area. They’ve had a few clunkers this decade but generally have been pretty good for most of my lifetime.

Payback is a bitch, Hoosier-makers.

Denis is a different story. He's simply the guy who would only be happy elsewhere. "I went to UIUC, but it wasn't good enough. I live in Illinois, but it's not good enough."

Believe me I am completely aware of how bad IU is right now.

Maybe this will be the year Kofi is a top 10 NBA pick?

:). My inherent UIUC problem is two fold (wholly a me problem):

1) I grew up a huge ND fan, which much like my Cubs love, is derived from my family,
2) I cannot believe what a different world Champaign Urbana is. I love calling it southern Illinois to rile up the locals. But it is a pretty dumpy place with not even one redeeming quality. Fucking Blues and Cardinals fans running around everywhere.

The state of Illinois is more than good enough. I have been here my entire 47 year life. I have a great appreciation for Chicago, which is a world class city despite its many flaws. But the long term prospects of this place are no bueno. People are voting with their feet, so I am not alone in that assessment.

I also wanted to make a joke in which I wondered if Purdue would break the fifty point mark against the Illini . . . but they probably did in football.

I also just finished translating a wire I got from a former Hoosier player (initials of DB, first name rhymes with shaman, last name rhymes with gayly) who said that "few teams look as dominant in losing as do this year's Illini. That there basketball team woulda done kilt us."

All the Big10 teams have new alt jerseys in this style. The ones I've seen have all been equally stunning. Whoever designed those knocked it out of the park.

Illini looking pretty good right now. If Penn State wasn’t on fire from beyond the 3pt line they’d be putting the hurt on them.

Penn State should teach the Illini how to shoot--and make--free throws.

Big game tonight, anyone else gonna be watching? Illini could use a big win but it’s going to be difficult.

I'll be watching. Should be a good mid/late season measuring stick.

If they can keep it within 6 pets or so I think I’ll consider it a moral victory. This team has been frustrating to watch with as much talent as they have.

They might need some emotional support animals on the bench. Looking forward to seeing what Garzilla is like

Illini don’t rebound well. Cockburn lopes up and down the court and for a guy with that body he seems to only get rebounds that come to him. What a waste. Dosunmu can score thankfully.

Iowa is fun to watch. Zero defense and chuck up a ton of shots.

Illini picked up the D and rebounding. Nice first half. They need to put some size in there when Cockburn is sucking gas. ‘Velli” likes to walk with the ball and miss bunnies. Garza is slow down there. Why can’t Illinois always have a 6-9 guy who can be aggressive?

Big win. Couple times I thought they were going to fold. Huge game from Trent Frazier.
