Don't go out on a limb there that the Illini can beat Purdue at home.

Thank you for not taking my bet....I appreciate that.

I may be rooting for Illinois to beat Purdue at that home game. The Illini can bolster their already shaky resume and Purdue doesn't have to have the pressure of being undefeated if they win @Michigan.

^ This is a great post. Well done--seriously. I love posts like this.

I'm not laughing. There was nothing funny about that game. And, after all that, just before the refs were about to cash in their winning bets, they still had a chance to win it in the final seconds if Head hits that 3.

I would argue they are the best team. They weren't the most talented group of Illini players.

But, they were a fantastic and unselfish team.

They weren't as good as the '89 team. I wonder who is #2 on Road's list, though. The Cook-Williams-McClain team?

yeah we have been thru this many times around here. 89 was the best team and it is not even close IMO.

They were the most talented without question.

The '84 team was very good also.

 Yeah. The '84 team was great. That was when I was down there too. Oddly enough, I was not a fan. I LOVED DePaul basketball at that time. I hated when the Illini would win a recruiting battle against DePaul. I did root for them against Kentucky though. I was still butthurt over Dickie Beal changing his mind and snubbing DePaul. Fuck Kentucky.

IU really choked. Hard to imagine that they haven't won @ UW for 23 years. Crazy.

Yeah was a terrible 2nd half. Looked about like the Archie teams, bad shot selection, missed free throws and terrible turnovers down the stretch. Not a good start for Woodson

Iowa getting blown out too. Glad to see it…just wish it wasn’t another team from that god-awful state.

Ahh it is probably for the best. You were not going to go undefeated anyways, so get that loss out of the way and dominate. You guys are still the favorite for the Big 10.

It's going to haunt them all season. They could have afforded losses @MSU, @Michigan, and @Illinois this year and been alright but they now have to win one of those games or it's going to be questionable to get a 1 seed and even winning the Big Ten title becomes a lot tougher.

I really don't think it is going to haunt you. The Big 10 is going to be a meat grinder. All the other good teams are going to have a bad loss or two as well. You guys are fine.

I'll take it given it had never happened before.

I do wonder if the moment and storyline of it being the first time did get to them. The Iowa game last week was closer than it should have been. A lot of mistakes and lost focus.
