Izzo, Self, Pitino all have winning % of over 70% for their career but it's "terrible" to think of them as "geniuses". Ed Cooley career winning % of 57% not so much

Again, Cooley is over 60% for his career and much of that was at basketball powerhouse Providence.

Genius criteria:
1) National title
2) Many F4's
3) 70%+ winning percentage

Is that roughly correct? You don't need all of them but you need to get at least 2 of them.

So, outside of John Thompson, who I would definitely put in as a genius, who else should be on the list that isn't?

Ed Cooley does not have a 60% career winning percentage. And he has never been to a Final Four either. Thus what do you have to suggest that he is a "genius" coach?

And keep.in mind your initial suggestion was that it was a "terrible" list. So if that list of guys with much better bodies of work than Ed Cooley is "terrible" then what does that make your reference to Ed Cooley?

No one else besides yourself has Ed Cooley on that list. With that being said it's going to be difficult to move on from that. And you do not quite "understand" the point so why are continuing to argue the point?

And since you have John Thompson in the "genius" category explain why very few from his "coaching tree" have ever gotten head coaching jobs anywhere?

It's because you don't have an answer to the very simple question of who else besides John Thompson was a "genius" but didn't get credit for it.

You still can't seem to answer the question as to why Pitino (who you clearly don't think is a genius) assistants are able to get top college jobs while Thompson (who you do place in the genius category) get crappy jobs whenever they got jobs.

I believe I did answer that before when I said that it was difficult for non-white coaches to get head coaching jobs in the past. It's improved but it still isn't all the way fixed. That isn't the discussion we were having though. It was about successful coaches never being called "genius" if they were non-white and then I pointed out a few names that are considered among the best right who are non-white and then you went on to bash Ed Cooley for a long time and then say that Georgetown was maybe a better job than Northwestern.
