Oh well my point is what their team expectations should be not turning of turnstiles.

They're talking around that on ESPN today. Why LSU would want him is beyond me. I wouldn't trust him, or want to pay his buyout at Free Shoes U.

Justin Fuentes would be at the top of any search I was conducting, what he has done at Memphis is crazy.

He's headed to Virginia Tech.

"Les Miles is our football coach and will continue to be our football coach," LSU athletic director Joe Alleva said after the Tigers beat Texas A&M 19-7.

The way the LSU AD handled this was miserable at best.

ESPN is saying the decision was made in the third quarter of that game.

I wish I could have been in that room. It must have been like "If LSU doesn't score on this drive he is fired!".

Is it still jingoistic pandering if they are actually you know real Navy cadets?

they are only wearing seven different helmets. Hard core for the 4 helmetless players on the field

Good for him.

The AD is a fucking joke.

He can go get another job fairly easily.

yes, glad to hear about that. he's more than finished at LSU.

Post subject:  Re: Les Miles

So, who are they gonna get who is better? For much of the 70s-90s, LSU was a blip on the national radar and a middle of the pack SEC team. Saban turned it around, and Miles sustained it. Be careful what you ask for.

They could be revisiting the Mike Archer/Curly Hallman days.

Please bring The Hat to the Big Ten. Guess there's no room....I'm happy the Illini have Lovie, and I don't think Miles would have taken that job, but imagine him at Illinois.

By the way, the hottest and sweatiest I have ever been is at an LSU game. Damn, it is hot and humid down there.

Post subject:  Re: Les Miles

they may as well bring on the suck. they're "middle of the pack" now, and will continue to be if they keep miles. they're definitely not getting any better with him.

Should have been fired for hiring Cam Cameron if nothing else. Not sure if he's even a good high school OC at this point.

I'd have given him a chance. Apart from Saban over the last ten years, no coach ever sustains that .850 winning percentage. The entire school is a wreck, though, so maybe this is a blessing in disguise for Miles.

I know it would not be popular and I hate the guy but I think I would give a call to Lane Kiffen

LSU has had all the offensive talent in the world over the last few years but that is where they have crapped the bed

I don't think Kiffin is ready, or has earned another chance at running a big time program, especially in south Louisiana. If his liver would hold up, Sarkisian wouldn't be bad, and it'd be funny to watch him take two big jobs away from Orgeron (& I have nothing against the guy, just twisted jollies here  )

But watch Art Briles' name show up, it's so Louisiana.

Obviously Tom Herman is the guy they will go after. The question is what other big name jobs might open up this year. Texas is a possibility. Their win over ND doesn't look great now and if Strong flounders around 7-5 look for them to make a move. USC, incredibly, might be open again. Helton is a clown and the team is undisciplined. No clue why they made that hire. If Kelly does another 8-5 type year, could ND fire him? I think they might give him a chance to hire another defensive coordinator in the offseason. Penn St maybe, though I doubt they could go up against the money of Texas, USC, and LSU to snag Herman.

I still think JImbo could be lured back to the bayou. They almost had him after last season. Don't see Briles getting any job this year. He needs some more time in the outer darkness before he returns.

Him or Fleck. I would look for them to try to overpay for on the best coaches in the P5 conferences, though. They can't go with a newbie after firing Miles.

Probably looking at Patterson, Swinney, or Peterson.

Supposedly had a deal with Jimbo in place last year before it fell through.

They had ODB, Jarvis Landry, and Jeremy Hill on the same team and had a terrible offense.

Their last 5 recruiting classes are like 7,5,10,3,5. Someone is stepping into a near-perfect situation. MANY think that Kiffen's offensive coordination (and manner) saved Saban from becoming Miles. Hard to say but they can win any type of game now.
