Or at least 1700 people at the Horizon. 82-61 over No. 20 George Washington. 10 years since their last win over a ranked non-conf opponent.

Closer to 170 than 1700 at that game. But yes a nice win for Depaul.

 My friend was told by ushers to go to his assigned seats at that game tonight.

Watched the whole game and they dominated GW. DePaul has some talent and they played tough. Hope they have turned a corner.

I haven't seen a game but I know they've had some terrible losses. I can't really understand why they've been as bad as they have. They should have improved from last year and looked like they could actually be, not a force, but at least competitive in the Big East this season. What's wrong with them?

Billy Garrett is supposed to be their best player but there are too many games in which he doesn't play like it. Last night he did. Myke Henry was a top 40 recruit and he is finally playing up to his potential. Leitao is a definite upgrade over Purnell. They have 7 to eight Chicago kids on the roster which is a good thing in my opinion. 4 to 5 are good players too.

I was going to watch that game then I thought to myself: WHY??

They are either a half way decent team that lost in OT to a better NU team over the weekend or just another lousy Blue Demon men's team that got lucky. They haven't been competitive since Doug Bruno got a new hairpiece.

I was shocked to go to the NU v. De Paul game and hear an Ignatius guy is starting for them. I don't remember hearing about any D I recruit over the past few years other than Egwu.

Anyway, De Paul is playing much better. They should have beat an 11-1 Northwestern as well

Depressed I dont know more about them, but pissed at them at the same time.

Wanted to pay more attention, as I got a guy there now and he is promising me a corner is going to be turned due to people not being there much longer.

The guy you're referring to is a walk on. Can't think of his name but I know he is a walk on. They are definitely better but Henry, Stimage, and Simpson will be missed. Tommy Hamilton has talent and should have been further along in his 3rd yr.

I wasn't excited by the Leitao move originally but he may be the right guy for this job. He can coach and recruit Chicago. Keeping Garrett as his Chicago recruiting guy is also a good move. Garrett has ties to the Fire, which is Chicago's top AAU program.

Almost beat Butler today. Would have been their biggest win since, what, 1995?

One of the worst athletic events I ever witnessed on TV!!!

Put it on in the middle of the 2nd half where NEITHER team scored a FG for about 10-15 minutes! Tied it for OT but I shut it off. DePaul has sucked for a long, long time but the newspapers made it look like they put up a performance. Butler is #13 in the country???

NCAA Ball must really suck.

Thanks Obama!

DePaul basketball is much better now that BigFan has moved to Arizona though, at least that's what I hear.

I'll give myself a little crap on that one.

That would be a great sentiment if his interest was the University. But he was most interested in the assistant coach and the head coach is cool too...

So, I'm doubling down.

I like the term "reclassifying". I don't know how a high school kid can do it.

Mom, I'm not staying a fifth year at college, I am reclassifying.

He was probably held back at some point like a lot of these kids are. You just take a bunch of online courses.

missed this thread. Pretty psyched about this. There might actually be light at the end of the tunnel.

The problem is that the other teams in their conference are getting this level of talent every year. All this does is make De Paul a dangerous opponent from the bottom half of the conference. They squandered Billy Garrett by not being able to follow up with good recruiting classes

Watching that highlight video....gives me absolutely nothing to get excited about. It certainly doesn't portray the kid as a "star" by any means. Hopefully he is...I'd like see DePaul be good again. It's certainly been a LOOOOOOONG time.

Hence its a step in the right direction, a potentially huge step.

And I don't agree that the other teams in the BigEast are getting this level of talent every year. When was the last time St. John's got a top 25 recruit? Or Seton Hall? Several teams in that conference don't get that type of talent on a yearly basis. In fact, Villanova might be the only one that does.

hiring the Coach from La Lumiere was a significant move. He is a "grinder" and he is young. La Lumiere is a big time prep school and they have had a number top players come through the past three years. DePaul signed a couple of their guys in Nov and now this kid. If they sign Bowen too they will be back sooner than people think.

I think recruit ranking sites just automatically give the starters at La Lumiere a 5-star ranking.

Article also mentioned that a kid named Diener will be joining him. Is that another of the famous Diener kids?
