I get it. You are frustrated. I mean who wouldn’t be? You just got demolished by The Purple Crush. But I wouldn’t feel too bad. I mean it’s not like it’s the first time the LoL hat went to Evanston. It’s getting comfy there in its third year. Illinois is a bad team, but they just gave up. Kids watching this program want to play for Pat Fitzgerald, not Lovie Smith. They want to play for a place that’s investing in athletics with a lakefront athletic facility that will be the envy of the conference. They want to play for Chicago’s team... not Urbana’s Big Ten Team. I mean who wouldn’t? Fret not though. I’m sure in about 5 years you might be able to get a program that can consistently compete against Rutgers. I mean when your getting chased by a Bear (or a Wildcat in this instance) you only need to be faster than the slowest guy.

Envy of the conference?

In other news, with a good season next year Pat Fitzgerald may finally have a .500 Big Ten record!

What? that's surprising. He usually has the Wildcats playing respectable college ball until the Bowl Games at least. You guys at Purdue remember what a bowl game looks like?

Sounds like Lovie is going to stick around which shocks me. I thought he had two feet out of town 3 months ago.

He's got a decent class coming in. I think he's been recruiting well. Maybe things will click in.

I knew Lovie wasn't going anywhere, he's making great money and has no other job offers.

He's making inroads in Texas and Florida. That's positive.

Thanks man. With the 4 kids and their travel sports, my fanaticism is focused on the absolute depravity of suburban youth sports. Missed you guys.

Two kids in Florida that were from Chicago just decommitted from FSU. One was close to going to the Illini.

They both go to the same high school down there. Lovie might get a 2-fer but I think the other kid (a 4* CB) is probably going to Notre Dame.

They might have a good shot at the Center they were in on before. Lovie "liked" the kid's Tweet saying that he was decommitting from FSU which I thought was a little weird.

So he's pushing for the kids that would wind up at Albeline Christian, otherwise? Danieal Manning 2.0...

A little better than that but pretty much. I'm OK with the guys that Texas and Oklahoma don't need. It's a much bigger talent pool combined with Florida. Having connections there is good. The last good teams Illinois had were when Zook was recruiting more nationally and getting guys out of the DC area like Vontae Davis and Arrelious Benn.

Howard Griffith's kid isn't going to Illinois since Howard is pissed that Lovie fired his buddy when Lovie was hired. The other kid sounds like they are in the running for.

I didn't realize that was Howard's kid. That's a shame. He's probably my favorite Illini player.

We are Illini fans, we need help. At least Hef went there and Julie DiCaro didn't.

My youngest knows this kid and played for his dad. He believes that to be the case as well.

I loved when Keith Jackson used to wax poetically about the "fancy footwork" or Howard Griffith.

Have your son tell him I've got 20 bucks waiting for him on arrival.

Keep a low-profile on that.

If only they hired Mike Leach, they'd be going to a bowl game in a few weeks.

Nah they'd have gone to a bowl game last year and Leach would have bolted immediately. They'd be in year one of the Jeff Tedford rebuild.
