Due to travel conflicts, 1st draft of the year went ahead this weekend. With the 12th pick (out of 12 participants) in a PPR league:
Quote:
QB: Drew Brees

RB: Aaron Jones, Tarik Cohen, Jordan Howard, Darwin Thompson, Dexter Williams, Gus Edwards

WR: JuJu Smith-Schuster, Michael Thomas, Tyler Lockett, Jarvis Landry, Dante Pettis, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Albert Wilson, Quincy Enunwa (already dropped)

TE: Kyle Rudolph

DEF: none yet
K: none yet

RB is a clear weakness. Have a couple of lottery tickets but otherwise hope to use my WR depth to snag a RB2 later in the season.

Had an opportunity to draft Melvin Gordon in the 4th round. I pussed out. His injury history and holdout is too radioactive for my risk level.

my picks are somewhat interchangeable since i was 12th and had the turn.

3. A. Jones
4. T. Lockett
5. T. Cohen
6. J. Landry
7. D. Pettis
8. MVS
9. J. Howard
10. A. Wilson
11. Brees

Rest were all back-ups.

Jacobs went 2nd round - 19th overall
AB went 2nd round - 22nd overall
Montgomery went 4th round - 52nd overall

Maybe pick up Gordons or Elliots backup, both have great lines and guys who hold out almost always pull a hammy or fet hurt.

Tony Pollard and Justin Jackson should be drafted in 12 team leagues but maybe Kirkwood plays with IDIOT FRIENDS and will get lucky.

Pollard..DRAFTED

Justin Jackson went undrafted. Waiver bid already placed this morning (why Enunwa was DROPPED)

10 team PPR league. Start 2 QBs, 2 RBs, 1 RB/WR, 3 WR, 1 WR/TE, 1 TE, 1 DEF, 1 K

You can keep 1 QB, RB, and WR from last year. I won the championship last year so I had the last pick

QBs: Baker Mayfield (keeper), Russell Wilson, Lamar Jackson
RBs: Christian McCaffery (keeper), Marlon Mack, David Montgomery, Carlos Hyde, Nyheim Hines
WRs: Brandin Cooks (keeper), Adam Thielen, Allen Robinson, Marvin Jones, Jr, Cortland Sutton, Curtis Samuel, Anthony Miller, Daesean Hamilton
TEs: Trey Burton, T. Hockenson
DEF: Chicago
K: Mason Crosby

Not happy with my WRs, but I just missed on a couple guys. Hoping maybe Sutton or Miller will have a breakout year. Did not want Burton at TE, but I hate taking TEs early unless they are a top guy. Burton was the best one available late and I got Hockenson with my my last pick hoping maybe he is good.

after you got lockett you should have drafted RB's your next 4 picks, i really dont like your team but it's tough drafting late in the 1st round

Tarik Cohen was the BPA RB after Lockett. Wasn't much selection. The next 3 RBs drafted after I grabbed Cohen were Ekeler, AP, and Hunt. Slim pickings.

The biggest mistake I probably made is Lockett when RBs were still on the board: Montgomery, M. Gordon, James White or Lindsay.

I'm shit with RB luck so I played it vanilla and safe. Probably why I never win.

Lockett over Montgomery is gonna haunt you this year. Montgomery is gonna be a top 10 fantasy RB.

You think? 3 RBs in that backfield. Maybe 4 with Whyte making noise.

Either way, that pick was the one I have the most regret with.

Yeah Montgomery is gonna be a beast this year. I don’t think Mike Davis takes much work and Cohen isn’t even a running back for all intents and purposes.

would agree the mistake was taking lockett... but still once you had him you had to pivot to rb's

drafting 12 of 12 is why i loathe snake draft format... auction format you are free to get whoever the hell you want...

I could see Duke Johnson taking Millers job, that's a good offense.. Duke could score some points.

Yeah he would be a solid guy to target if you can get him cheap.

He hasn't had much opportunity as a pro to run the ball but when he's been given opportunity he hasn't been that bad. I don't think there's a case to be made that Lamar Miller is significantly better.

I went psycho during a draft and picked up as many discount players as I could find:

Aj Green 6th round
Melvin Gordon 3rd round
Gurley 2nd round

I also took Kareem Hunt real late and Golden Tate as well (suspended).

Basically, if a nagging injury and/or suspension made an otherwise safe pick fall a couple rounds in the draft, I was picking that player. Nordstrom Rack approach.

Starters so far are:

Ben
Ridley
Landry
Elliot
Gurley
Rudolph
Gordon

How dumb am I?

Also someone is offering me Curtis Samuel for Matt Breida. Should I do it?

Had my main league draft on Saturday, picked 1st overall, 10 team PPR. Reached a little for Zeurlein because my kickers sucked ass all last season and it annoyed me. Defending champ in this league.

I'd probably do that. Samuel is gonna break out this year.

You better have made sure to get Malcolm Brown on your bench.

Yes.

Coleman, McKinnon, Breida...that's a crowded backfield. How could you ever feel confident knowing when to start or sit Breida?

 Agreed. And then a bunch of idiots started taking 2nd QBs early as hell, including a guy who took TWO backup QBs, so I felt I had to grab Mitch which was annoying.

I wonder what kind of career Corey Davis could have if he wasn't on the Titans. Feels like he's so fucked in that shit org.

I had to auto draft because I was working. The computer decided I needed all the WRs. I got Hopkins, JuJu, Cooper, Moore and Kupp. Rest of my team is trash. Murray/Newton at QB. Carson and Jacobs at RB. Hooper at TE.

 that sounds like an awesome team.

Chris Carson is gonna be a beast this year.
