Never thought this would be a legit question, but after two consecutive trips to the Super Bowl in my 20 team league with AJ sitting on the bench in street clothes I'm seriously considering dumping him and keeping Welker.

I'm coming off a title no thanks to Andre. Brady is my keeper QB so I have the Brady/Welker thing going on.

My other keeper is Darren McFadden who also missed my Super Bowl victory.

Pretty amazing I won a Super Bowl in a 20 team league without by #1 WR and #1 RB.

So as great as AJ is, should I dump him in favor of Welker b/c of the injury issues?

Can you keep both and dump McFadden?

no, you can only keep one player per position.

Who are the morons in your 20 team league that allowed you to get Brady/Johnson/Welker/McFad?

Agreed. If it isnt PPR Johnson has to stay and even if it is PPR I still think he needs to stay.

So you think this is a no brainer? Why?

2011 stats:
Welker: 16gp, 1569 yards, 9td
AJ: 7gp, 492, 2

2010:
Welker (the year after ACL): 15gp, 848 yards, 7td
AJ: 13gp, 1216, 8td

2009:
Welker: 14gp, 1438, 4td
AJ: 16gp, 1569, 9td (all career highs)

Andre's best career season is 100% identical to Welker's 2011 season.

Andre hasn't been able to stay healthy for 2 straight years now, especially late in the year during FF playoffs.

Its non ppr which helps the case for Andre, but even still, these two are a lot closer than you are insinuating.

If I was guaranteed perfect health, I would defiinitely take Andre. But, obviously I can't get that guarantee and based on Welker's stats I think that levels the playing field and makes this a really tough choice.

This is our 4th season. The first draft I took Andre first round, Brady second and got McFadden in the 8th (back before he broke out a few seasons ago).

Last year had the 19th pick and took Welker and then Brandon Marsall on the way back. Got Sproles later on which proved to be the pick that won me the title. Also took McFadden's backup which helped out.

I know nothing is promised, but I would go into the season assuming that Johnson will be healthy. Johnson has about 2500 more yards and 20 more TD's in the same amount of games (two less, even). I just think you'd be pretty pissed if you kept Welker and they both end up having an average season...

no doubt if AJ stays healthy I'd be pissed. But, on the flipside if he gets hurt again and Welker continues to play like he did last year I'd be just as pissed, even moreso because it has the fool me three times feel to it.

Another scenario I'm exploring is trying to trade AJ to my brother for Julio Jones. What do you think of that?

I'd make him throw something else in to that deal...

maybe I can squeeze Julio + 3rd or 4th round pick for AJ.

I would defnitely do that and not look back twice, even if AJ stayed healthy all year and had a great season. Its a keeper league and JJ is the real deal, no different than AJ coming out of college or at this point in their careers. Plus he's younger and doesn't have me cringing every time he takes a stride downfield like AJ.

But JJ only played 13 games last year, what was his injury?

ok that didn't work out so well....just offered that trade to my brother and he thought I was offering AJ + my 3rd rd pick for JJ. So obviously he doesn't rate AJ too high.

Can't say I blame him, it was a sucker's trade considering the injury history of AJ and the unlimited potential of JJ.

Nothing major?

Tell that to my guy Andre! He missed 9 games last year with hammy issues and ended up having to have hamstring surgery.

Also, jsut read that Andre had offseason arthroscopic knee surgery and isn't participating in mini camp right now cause he's still not healthy.

Andre's was a major tear. Jone's wasn't.

Hence "nothing major".

I'd stick with Andre if I were you. Can't let injury factor into the decision unless it's

a.) Someone still recovering

or

b.) Someone with a history of the same injury.

He'll be fine...

Keep AJ, without giving it a 2nd thought.

I'm in a keeper league that I have participated in for 5 years. We keep 3 Offensive players, & my 3 keepers are Rodgers, Rice, & AJ. I have won the league the last 3 years.

Keep McFadden, and trade him after he has his first huge game. He will be out for the year soon after that.

I'm a big Wes Welker fan, but I'd still keep AJ and then delete this thread.

You guys were saying??

Unfortunately, I didn't listen to my gut and instead went with the conventional wisdom and kept Andre.

Now I'm going to see if anyone in my league is dumb enough to give me a first round pick for him.

You got much bigger problems than Andre Johnson if you're retarded enough to have Hester on your team.
