He is 1-8. He clearly dumped his players to help out his pal.

Yep.

I picked up Bortles in week 3 or 4, I was playing shitty ass Stafford and still managing to win despite him. Bortles has now been my starter.

So, you would trade Rodgers for Bortles or Stafford?

I would trade Stafford in a heartbeat...but I can't find a sucker in my league. Depending on the makeup of my team I'd rather have Bortles right now, as Spanky said Rodgers hasn't exactly lit it up this year. I don't base my trades on previous performance.

What does the makeup of your team have to do with who is the better QB? You aren't Chip Kelly, trying to fit somebody into a scheme.

Meaning who else I had to give up too. I also tend to shy away from having multiple players from the same team on my roster.

Yeah, normally I subscribe to this way of thinking. I have Big Ben and A. Brown this year. There was a big run on QBs ahead of me, so I took Ben, rather than waiting ~20 picks, and getting stuck with a middle of the road guy like Cutler or Bridgewater.

QB/RB on the same team can work on a good offense. QB gets the passing TDs, and the RB gets the rushing TDs. Double bonus for the QB/RB endzone hookup.

Post subject:  Re: Shenanigans?

The guy who gave away Rodgers has finally chimed in. My responses are in blue. Well Hungarians is my team name.

A. You are wrong in your point on "one guy trading a stud to help out a buddy", this trade was proposed to me and evaluated the trade and considered it, deciding that Bortles is doing better for me than Rodgers, fantasy wise. You can ask all your sources you deem fit, hell you can ask Matthew Berry if you'd like, but my decision is my decision. I am 1-8, clearly what I was doing with drafting, waiver pickups, etc. was not working. So I am taking a chance. You Mr. Chus Well Hungarians, or Vinegar Strokes, or Danaconda Inc., could have approached me for Rodgers and my thought process would have been the same. So enough about this one buddy helping out another crap.

You wait until you are 1-8, and out of the playoffs, to trade Rodgers for Stafford (which is essentially what the trade is. TEs cancel out, and Sproles is a throwaway)? If the point of trading Rodgers was to improve your team, then why did you trade him for another QB who is just going to ride your bench, behind Bortles? Why not make the trade a few weeks ago, when you still were in contention? That would be taking a chance. Why not trade Rodgers for other positions that will help you? If you wanted to trade Rodgers to improve your team, why not announce that he is available, and let the bidding begin? I guarantee that you would have gotten more than Stafford and Sproles in return.

If any of the scenarios that I presented had played out, I wouldn't be questioning anything. I'm still waiting for an explanation that makes sense. Until I get one, I have to believe that this was a roster dump, plain and simple.

B. Isn't this the point to allowing the commissioner to VETO trades?

I wish he would have.

C. Agreed with <manager who acquired A-A-Ron> though, if you all like, I have no problem with leaving this league. There is more to my life than making fantasy football a priority. I joined this league because COMMISH needed to fill spots, not to worry about people like you causing a fit.

Again, with the over the top responses. Nobody should leave the league. I would just like to see trades that are on the up and up. This one is not. Calling bullshit when I see it, hardly means that fantasy football is my top priority, or I am "throwing a fit". Those are just more deflection techniques.

D. If you still would like to argue this, I have no problem going back and forth with you.

There is really no point to continue this discussion. You guys have justified a roster purge. What else is there for me to say?

Yesterday was the trade deadline. The commish allowed a trade to go through, but he then had some second thoughts, so he asked for my thoughts. I don't know the guys well enough to accuse anybody of funny business, but it doesn't pass the smell test.

Last place team trades A-A-Ron and Delanie Walker, to the 6th place team for Stafford, Jordan Reed, and Sproles.

The 6th place team got the better QB, better TE, and threw in a shitty RB to somehow make it even. I think the trade stinks, what say you CSFMB?

The fact that the last place team is trading is sounding warning bells.

Boom. Yep. Shit used to happen in my league a lot until I dealt with it. Whenever a team is "out of it" and starts to make moves....it's bad and nefarious.

Vote against it.

Upon seeing this trade the first question that should com to mind is: how many bags of weed changed hands between seeds 6 and 12 to make this trade square?

Hey, a weed joke. Hilarious. Why would it be multiple bags? Wouldn't it just be one bag? I have no idea if they smoke or not. One of my bowling teammates asked me to join the league, two years ago. I know him well, the commish a little bit, and the other guys not at all, other than hanging out at the live draft at Real Time Sports.

I wanted the buy-in to be higher, but I was voted down. It's not my league, but I'm in that league.

But neither are these people. That's not the trade.

Like somebody else said, the "red flags" in this trade are not the players. It's the timing and the fact that one of them is in last place.
If 3rd place was trading 4th place, this trade is way less suspicious.

Right, but some people here said that they would roll with Bortles, his backup, rather than Rodgers, and that's why it makes sense to trade Rodgers. That makes sense if he trades Rodgers to improve at other positions, not for another QB, who will ride the bench.

That was part of my objection in my first post.

Of course. They would both be trying to win.

He is 1-8, in last place, and he traded Rodgers for Stafford and Sproles, who are both on his bench this week. I do think that part of this is that I am an outsider here, and they don't like the fact that I am dominating the league. I am 9-0. There are two teams that are 8-1. I handed both of them their only loss.

There is a whole lot of bad to go around with this trade.

Fo sho there are things to object about. I agree.
Let us know what the commish ultimately decides (if he even has a choice after the fact).

I just think the fact that A-a-ron was involved isn't really a big deal, by itself.

This kind of stuff is why I like putting in a penalty fee for teams that finish in last, or maybe the bottom two spots. It keeps the whole league competitive, and prevents trades where it's obvious some colluding is going on. In leagues I've been a part of, the teams that finish in the bottom two spots have to pay the league fee at the end of the season. You end up with less people quitting and going on auto-pilot after week 6.

At this point, the justifications are worse than the trade itself.

I texted the commish last night, and told him that I said my peace, and I will drop it. So, this morning, two more idiots chime in, telling me that I need to drop it. I move on, they bumped the thread, and told me to drop it. One of them said that I should just worry about my competition. Hey dipshit, that's exactly what I'm doing.

I took a loss on purpose this week to get a better matchup in the playoffs which start next week. Seems a couple guys are pissed, including the guy who I preferred to face next week . Is this unfair of me? Of course in addition to getting the seed I want some guys won't get a higher seed because I gave a guy a free win and so on

 Well if it makes things sound more ethical there's no money at stake so guys won't lose out on anything in real life. The guy I'm trying to avoid is the 4 or 5 seed but he's the league leader in points scored by far, so basically he's got the best team. Having Bell, Gurley, and the Jags RB will do that for you I guess.

If no money...that's fine. Karma will probably kick in and the points leader will have a shitty week that you would have won and your opponent will have 5 50yd FGs from his kicker.

Yup, that's pretty much the law in H2H football leagues. Best team doesn't always come out on top. Sucks.
