For this year's Madden, Tom Hammond is out and Gus Johnson is in.

From Profootballtalk.com

The easily excitable (and, in most cases, that's a good thing) Gus Johnson has a new job. He'll handle the play-by-play duties for the newest edition of the Madden video game franchise.

Johnson replaces Tom Hammond. Cris Collinsworth, who succeeded John Madden on NBC's Sunday Night Football, will remain in the game.

Johnson calls NFL and college basketball games for CBS. He previously supplied his pipes for EA Sports' "NCAA Basketball 10."

Off Topic: Madden is a total racket and a rip off. They have been selling, pretty much, the same exact game for ever except every "new release" has some a tweak or two and some new gameplay "device" that "adds" to the game. It's had the same engine since its first Xbox360/PS3 release for gods sake. Same bad canned animations, same lame AI and same 'bumper pool' physics...the list goes on as well. Having EA with a total lock on the license is bad for video-game football. 60 bones every year for what is really a patch and new rosters.

I can't wait to try the new BackBreaker demo coming out this week. No NFL license but a different take on things. I have high hopes.

I agree with just about all of this and still love Madden but I think the last games for the PS2 were actually more fun than anything that has been released on this generation of consoles.

Madden has been awful ever since EA got exclusive rights.

Our government needs to step in and end this monopoly.

Yeah, EA really does love to milk the people for money...thing is, people keep buying it, year after year...

I haven't owned a copy of Madden since 05, and I really don't miss it...I guess my love for sports video games died with the MVP baseball series...

I loved MVP baseball and havent really played any baseball games since. I thought about getting a baseball game for the 360 but have heard so many mixed reviews that I never really gave one a chance. Is there a particular baseball game that people on the board have had any luck with?

supposedly the new play calling mechanism cuts the game time in half, if that's true, I might buy this game again. I haven't purchased this game since the ps2 days. plus it would be nice to be able to beat down chris for once and northside dan in a third game...

Hot damn tamales, Ahab .... that's reason enough to get the game right there.

Also, for your entertainment .... http://www.gusjohnsongetsbuckets.com/

man, you and mud with that xbox online is better crap again. quantity does not equal quality. Not once in my ps3 online career(for lack of a better word) have I ever longed for more competition, there has always been a game available for me, and the competition has always been up to par. It's a criticism that I'll never understand...
