I have U-verse Internet Max Plus and just recently I have been having trouble with my Smart TV connecting to my wifi that i have 2 levels up from the modem that I have.....So my question is am I better upgrading my internet plan to like UVerse Turbo or do I need just to buy a router to get a stronger signal or can I just be good with buying wifi range extender. Thanks

WiFi sucks for streaming. It won't work. It's not the speed of your Internet connection. It's that it's on WiFi.
You'll have to hardwire it to get reliable good pictures.

I'm just a small-town pizza lawyer so there's lots of thing me no understand, but why the hell would paying AT&T more money extend your wifi range?

Seems to me you could do with a repeater.

You could hardwire it for only a couple bucks!

ueasy way to test speed is to use the speedtest.net app on your phone while connected to your wifi. try running the app several times in each room and average the results. if you get decent speed near the router but poor speed two floors away it may be best to get a new router or try one of those powerline extenders that you plug in the wall in the room you want stronger wifi

I was thinking if I up the speed that maybe came with a better modem which would give out a stronger signal

Correct ... run it up 2 floors then use this to distribute in a non-wifi fashion.

Unfortunately the TV doesn't have an Ethernet input can only connect via WiFi

Ethernet your ass.

I have 3 separate TV's hooked up to Wi-Fi,no issues. Everything streams fine.

I spent about 60 bucks on my netgear router but it's best to go by how big your house is which in case you might need a more expensive one.

Hard wiring is so early 2000's.

WiFi sucks for streaming. It won't work. It's not the speed of your Internet connection. It's that it's on WiFi.
You'll have to hardwire it to get reliable good pictures.

Wi-Fi should work just fine for streaming. That's why they put Wi-Fi in tvs. We stream HBO go and Netflix all the time in hd.

You need a better wireless router if you can't stream in hd.

Max plus should be fine for streaming though as others said you can use an online speed test to see how fast it truly is.

If your television is far away from your router then an extender is probably your best bet.

indeed. I've had an E3000 for years and it streams 1080p without a hitch. i can use any internet 'app' or my media server. Newer, quality routers can probably handle more.

Agree with the updated router idea. We were having similar problems and a new router solved it.

My old router crapped out and when I replaced it with the Netgear router about 2 years ago, everything started running a lot smoother.

Darkside getting his hardwired ass handed to him in this thread. Sounds like he's still using that old linksys router from the 1990's. Poor guy...

Many people do not realize their old routers cannot handle the higher speeds even when working properly. They were not designed for it.

hardwired is good but a good wireless AC router works really well...the nighthawk router for example...

Yep. When I first started streaming, I still had my old wireless router from my college days. That obviously could not handle the speeds. I went out and bought a new one about 5 years ago, and rarely have a problem now.
